UFC Veteran Ryan Jimmo Dead After Hit-And Run Incident

2016 continues to be a rough year for combat sports, as Canadian light heavyweight fighter Ryan Jimmo has passed away at the age of 34.

MMA Junkie confirmed Sunday that Jimmo was the victim of a hit-and-run collision this weekend after an altercation with a driver led to him being run down.

CBC News published the following report:

An altercation occurred between the drivers of two vehicles at around 2:15 a.m." this morning in the parking lot of H2O Lounge in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The 34-year-old driver of one vehicle walked up to the occupants of the other vehicle. When he began to walk away, police say the suspects' vehicle accelerated and struck him before leaving the scene. The suspects' vehicle, a dark-colored pickup truck police say was occupied by two Caucasian males, then fled ? and nearly hit a red car.

The suspects are still at large.

Jimmo fought for the UFC for three years before being cut in 2015. He's perhaps best known for his UFC debut, an impressive seven-second knockout of Anthony Perosh at UFC 149, one of the lone bright spots on the card. Jimmo hadn't fought since May of 2015.

Wrestling Inc. would like to extend our condolences to Jimmo's friends, family and fans.
