THE UNDERCARD

JUSHIN THUNDER LIGER, TIGER MASK & CAPTAIN NEW JAPAN DEFEATED KUSHIDA, RYUSUKE TAGUCHI & DAVID FINLAY IN 5:33

Stop the presses. Captain New Japan's team finally wins a match on the 14th G1 event. He didn't factor into the fall though. Liger did by beating Finlay.

TOMOHIRO ISHII & HIROOKI GOTO DEFEATED SANADA & BUSHI IN 6:58

Goto with the GTR on Bushi for the victory. Ishii battles Sanada tomorrow in the A block. Ishii coming off arguably his greatest match and Sanada eliminated but in full spoiler mode.

HIROSHI TANAHASHI, TOGI MAKABE & JUICE ROBINSON DEFEATED HIROYOSHI TENZAN, SATOSHI KOJIMA & MANABU NAKANISHI IN 8:30

Makabe gets the win for his team with the king kong knee drop on Nakanishi. Surprising that Tenzan's team didn't win here especially considering the emotional moment he had with his partner Kojima and the crowd after being eliminated from G1 final contention yesterday. Tenzan will be fighting for pride tomorrow against Tanahashi in the A block.

BAD LUCK FALE, TAMA TONGA & YUJIRO TAKAHASHI DEFEATED KAZUCHIKA OKADA, GEDO & NAOMUCHI MARUFUJI IN 9:33

The Bullet Club wins this 6 man tag when Yujiro hits the "pimp juice" on Gedo. This match is a set up for tomorrow's crucial A block match of Okada vs Fale. Biggest match of Fale's career as he trails the A block leader by only one victory and if he beats him. He will be tied for 1st place in the standings and will own the tie breaker. This match also set up tomorrow's do or die contest between Tonga and Marufuji.

G1 CLIMAX 26 TOURNAMENT

B BLOCK MATCHES

TORU YANO DEFEATED MICHAEL ELGIN IN 4:59

After beating Shibata in just over a minute. Yano followed that up by tying up Nagata and getting a count out victory. He steals yet another victory again by defeating Michael Elgin by pinfall. Yano is something else while most wrestlers have fancy finishing holds. Yano's set up move is his double low blow and then that's usually followed by an inside cradle called the Akakiri. Usually utilized with a hand full of tights. Yano brings every opponent down to his level. Very disappointing loss for Elgin. He vowed not to lose again in the G1. Elgin dominated the match. Yano begged off, looked for a way out and he found one. You can't make it up. Both men are now 4 and 3 with 8 points. Both only 2 points away from the B Block leader.

KATSUYORI SHIBATA DEFEATED YOSHI-HASHI IN 11:08

Shibata stays alive in the G1 by beating Yoshi-Hashi with the penalty kick. This was a solid match. Shibata improves to 4 and 3 with 8 points while Hashi is virtually eliminated at 6 points with only two matches left. Both men need to win out and get help in order to win this block. Yoshi-Hashi faces Naito next in the tourney while Shibata takes on Nagata.

KATSUHIKO NAKAJIMA DEFEATED TOMOAKI HONMA IN 12:34

Nakajima wins this one with the vertical spike brainbuster. A lot of striking in this match by Nakajima and Honma took a beating throughout. The story of the match was Honma trying everything he can to survive and avoid elimination. This match could have ended much earlier than it did and the crowd rallied for Honma but he fell short. Nakajima gets the crucial 2 points and he is in a logjam in 2nd place with 8 points. Honma is officially out of contention in the B block.

KENNY OMEGA DEFEATED YUJI NAGATA IN 14:17

The story of this match mirrored yesterday's Hiroyoshi Tenzan match. This was the classic young lion vs old lion type match. Nagata, The wily veteran refusing to go down quietly. Kenny Omega told quite a story in this match as well. He started off the match toying with Nagata and not taking the old veteran serious. When he couldn't put him away. Omega became frustrated and amped up the aggressiveness. When that didn't work. He then resorted to being spiteful and even using Nagata's signature moves against him. This was a fun 14 minute match to watch. Omega finally defeated Nagata after hitting 3 running knee strikes followed by the one winged angel. Omega joins the B block logjam in 2nd place with 4 wins and 8 points. Here's the thing despite the loss. Nagata is still mathematically alive with 6 points by virtue of the fact that he defeated Naito earlier in the tournament. Naito is the current B block leader. Nagata would have to win his final 2 matches and get a lot of help.

TETSUYA NAITO DEFEATED "KING OF DARKNESS" EVIL IN 21:28

Intriguing story going into this match. Very similar to yesterday's match of the year candidate with Okada and Ishii. The former IWGP champ, Naito is the leader of Los Ingobernables and a member of his group is Evil. With Naito leading the pack in the B block and Evil virtually eliminated from contention. There was some question as to whether Evil would lay down for his LIJ leader. All doubt was erased early on. Evil took it to Naito and this was a full on battle from the get-go. Evil dominated a good portion of this match inside and outside the ring. It wasn't until Naito injured Evil's leg that the tables were turned and this became a competitive back and forth match. Grueling battle between these two with great psychology throughout. Both men were out to prove their worth to one another. The final sequence saw Evil attempt his STO finisher only for it to be countered by Naito into The Destino for the victory. Naito now stands at the top of the leader board in the B block with 10 points and controls his "destino". If he wins out, He will be going to the G1 final on August 14th.
