Rey Mysterio On What Drew Him To Lucha Underground, Most Memorable Fan Interaction, Prince Puma
Former WWE Superstar and current Lucha Underground competitor Rey Mysterio was recently interviewed by Marvel to promote the Lucha Underground's fourth season. You can check out some highlights form the conversation below:
What makes Lucha Underground different and what made him want to get involved:
"Right out the start, the way wrestling is displayed there. It's an art form. And the way I grew up in Tijuana, across the border from San Diego, was Lucha Libre. Lucha Underground displays Lucha Libre at it's best. High flying nonstop action. It's incredible."
If he plans on doing anymore Marvel inspired costumes:
"I have in the past, and I'm looking forward to dong some more in the near future. It's just a matter of getting acquainted, getting those big shows to come in so I can display them. We're getting ready for our fourth season for Lucha Underground, we're airing season three right now, so I'm sure by season four I'll be able to get some of that stuff out."
If there was pressure to live up to expectations on his match with Prince Puma:
"I don't think the pressure hit in until after the match, and Prince Puma expressed the way he felt about me. To have had the match that we had that night, and for him to tell me what he felt afterwards was incredible. So I was very inspired by what he said, and hoping that he continues on with a lot of success cause to me he's probably the number one wrestler out there right now."
What accomplishments he wants to get done before he walks away from wrestling:
"I tell you what man I've been blessed throughout my career, I've put in a lot of work to what I've done and I truly believe I've accomplished probably more than any could have imagined. My only thing to pass on right now — that I haven't done is to make my son mature, and my daughter, in the perfect form in able for me to be the perfect inspiration to push them to achieve their goals now. That's probably the only thing left, cause my life is already set. I'm looking out for them now"
His most impactful fan interaction:
"I've had so many but I think the most impactful one are the ones with the little kids. For a while there I would have the parents come up to me and say 'what do you tell the kids when you would bump heads with them'. I said 'you gatta be a kid to know that man, I'm sorry. I can't let you know, it's just a connection between me and my fan."
