Backstage News On Why Samoa Joe Defeated Shinsuke Nakamura For NXT Title, Takeover Finishes Changed

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the finish of the Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura match at NXT Takeover: Toronto last weekend was done to keep that program going. He noted that Joe's win makes it pretty clear that he isn't being called up to the roster any time soon.

As noted, Joe is scheduled to defend his title against Nakamura at the December 3rd NXT live event in Osaka, Japan, so if Nakamura is winning the title back, it would make the most sense to have the title change in Nakamura's home country.

Meltzer also noted that several of the finishes at Takeover were changed at the last minute. While it was not confirmed which finishes were changed, he noted that it could have been with the two tag tag matches because there were title matches scheduled for the Australian tour pitting The Revival against TM-61.
