Backstage News On Who Convinced Vince McMahon To Headline WWE HIAC With Women's Title Match

As noted, Tom Casiello was recently let go from the WWE creative team. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio over the weekend that Casiello was the #3 person in creative behind Vince McMahon and Paul "Triple H" Levesque. Casiello was reportedly told that he was being cut for budgetary reasons and that they were eliminating his position.

Meltzer reported that Casiello was really strong on pushing the women's division. Casiello reportedly helped convince Vince to headline October's Hell In A Cell pay-per-view with the Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte match WWE RAW Women's Championship match.

It was noted that Casiello was in Stephanie McMahon's old position and would organize creative to send to Vince. Now, RAW head writer Ed Kosky and SmackDown head writer Ryan Ward will report directly to Triple H.

As noted, Casiello spoke out on his WWE departure on Twitter over the weekend, and discussed his influence on the women's division.

"Newsflash: if Vince doesn't want to do something, he doesn't do it," Casiello wrote. "If he wants to, he does it. Did I work closely with the Women's Division? Yes. I did. From Day one. And I always fought to get them more time and better stories, etc. But believe me when I say it takes an ARMY of people to make Raw and SDL happen. And EVERYONE is behind what's been happening with the Division. And EVERYONE works together to see it through. So for everyone posting and speculating and wondering if this means the Women's Division is suddenly going to go back to bra and panties matches that are 3 minutes long... stop. These women are unstoppable. They're here to stay, no matter who's writing the show."
