Umaga initially wrestled as Jamal with his cousin Matt Anoa'i (Rosey) as the tag team, 3 Minute Warning from 2002-2003. He returned in 2005 as Umaga and has went on to hold the WWE Intercontinental Championship on two separate occasions. He was released from his WWE contract on June 8, 2009.
