Twitter Fight Turns Ugly As MMA Champion Says Another Champion Assaulted Him

Bellator 145 just got a lot more interesting, as Bellator Lightweight Champion Will Brooks has accused current Featherweight Champion Patricio Friere of jumping him ahead of this Friday's card.

Brooks said that Patricio and his brother Patricky jumped him while he was on the phone with his mother. According to Brooks, members of the "Pitbull" camp were holding him back as the brothers sucker punched him.

Brooks is scheduled to face top lightweight contender Marcin Held this Friday in a Lightweight Championship defense, while Patricio Pitbull is looking to defend his title against former Featherweight Champion Daniel Straus.

The issue between Brooks and Patricio is not a new one, as the two had it out on Twitter in August. During the exchange, Brooks claimed he was going to slap Friere the next time he saw him. The Pitbull brothers refuted Brooks' claims, and said that Brooks instigated the fight.

Bellator issued me a statement, saying "We are looking into the situation and gathering surveillance footage at this time."
