Chris Jericho Talks WWE Breakout Stars, Cesaro Getting Over, Nixed Evan Bourne Program, Fandango
As noted, recently on Talk Is Jericho, 'Y2J' Chris Jericho talked about WWE's stringent drug policy, putting over Evan Bourne, whether Cesaro will get over, and his WrestleMania 29 match against Fandango. When asked whether there are any talents that he thought would have been more in the business of professional wrestling, Jericho said he was told that WWE was going to do something with Evan Bourne before they worked together, but it never materialized.
"We worked together about four or five years ago and I remember saying to Vince [McMahon], 'if you want me to work with him, are you going to do something with him?' [McMahon replied] 'yes'. [Jericho continued], 'because I will put him over and I'll make him a star'. [McMahon said] 'yes'. So we went out there and had these great matches, tore the damn house down and a month later, he's losing to Funaki on [WWE] Sunday Night Heat."
Jericho named Finn Bálor, Hideo Itami, and Kevin Owens as breakout stars. Also, Jericho predicted that Cesaro will get over eventually, even if Vince McMahon does not see that Cesaro has personality.
"I think Cesaro is amazing. [He is] very underrated and does have a personality that meanwhile the boss doesn't see that yet, but I do. It's just a matter of finding the right way to do it and he'll get over. I'm telling you right now, he will."
As for Jericho's WrestleMania 29 match with Fandango, Jericho defended it insofar as Fandango was the most over performer on the WWE Monday Night RAW following WrestleMania 29.
"The thing with Fandango was it wasn't exactly what I wanted to do, but the night after WrestleMania [29], on that [WWE Monday Night] RAW, he was the most over character on the show," Jericho stated. "I'm taking credit for it because we built that feud so well in four weeks. I took a guy that no one had ever seen, made people believe in him, made people get into that character, and it was what it was. Like I said, it wasn't what I wanted to do at 'Mania, but in retrospect, I was very, very happy with that feud and I think it worked out great."
