JR On Roman Reigns Being Booked Poorly At Royal Rumble, Brock Lesnar Vs. Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman

Recently on The Ross Report, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross talked about Roman Reigns' ongoing struggles in getting over, who he would like Braun Strowman to work with on the road, and the possible Brock Lesnar versus Bray Wyatt bout at WrestleMania 32.

During the podcast, Ross admitted that he wished he did not have a personal relationship with Reigns because he feels sorry for how this good person has struggled to get over.

"For me, I wish I didn't know him as well as I do because I really feel badly [for him]. I know how badly he wants to be where he's going or trying to be placed. He [has] got a good work ethic. He's a guy who weighed 320 or 330 pounds, playing college football at Georgia Tech and he [has] worked really diligently to get himself in great shape, so I know there's a commitment there. I know he's a good athlete. I think he's a good citizen, from all I can tell. I think he's a good choice for elevation and for promotion and advancement, but I just believe that the way he has been booked has not been in his best interest as it has worked out."

Most recently, Reigns was booked poorly at this year's Royal Rumble in Ross's view.

"[Reigns] was a victim of the way he was booked. That would be like blaming Cam Newton for not throwing more touchdown passes when they weren't calling the plays. He's following the orders. He's running the plays that he's told to run, but he's getting an amazing amount of heat for doing what he's told."

JR suggested that WWE should book Braun Strowman on the road against a hand like Dolph Ziggler every night to help The Wyatt Family member improve his craft.

"Here's a great example of how not having any territories bites you in the ass. Braun Strowman is a guy that would be great to send to a territory to stay six, nine, twelve months, working with somebody specific that had been outlined with the promoter and/or booker of the territory for him to go there and get better. And they don't have that location, so what I think they should do is book him in a lot of singles matches on the road with somebody that's solid, like Dolph Ziggler or somebody. That's the name that popped into my head because he's a good hand. But he needs reps. He needs time. He needs ring time because he has those intangibles that you have to look at a second time. He [has] got the size and no matter what, size still counts."

Ross claimed that the likely Wyatt versus Lesnar WrestleMania 32 match will be a "car wreck", insofar as it will surely be a physical and athletic contest. With that said, Ross is curious as to how the feud will be sustained on the Road to WrestleMania, since Lesnar will not appear on television regularly.

"I think they will have a car wreck in essence. I think it will be very physical and I think that they both enjoy that and I just don't think that it's necessary for either man to win to come out better. Would it hurt Lesnar to lose to Bray Wyatt? No, but you're not going to beat anybody with Lesnar that's not involved in the title picture. Just having Lesnar be the conduit for somebody to use as a stepping stone is not going to happen." Ross continued, "it's always interesting how they build this because you don't have your babyface there every week, in Lesnar, so it's going to be interesting to see how they scale this peak, to get me to WrestleMania, which, obviously, has to have something major happen at [WWE] Fastlane. And Fastlane might be the pay-per-view that Wyatt gets heat on Lesnar and take him to WrestleMania. But you know what I mean. It'll be fun to see how they storyboard this thing on the way out."

Additionally, during the podcast, JR said his New Japan announcing gig is not akin "revenge sex" in light of his WWE departure; he described his role in rectifying creative issues when he was with WWE; and he addressed many other topics.
