However, on this July 4th we celebrate the 23rd anniversary of the legendary "Body Slam Challenge" where Lex Luger slammed WWE Champion Yokozuna in a shocking and out of nowhere baby-face turn. Luger discussed with John and Chad how this moment catapulted him to top of the card status in WWE and would lead him to embark on a cross-country bus tour of the United States (The Lex Express) leading to a WWE Championship match with Yokozuna at Summer Slam.

Lex Luger on the July 4, 1993 "Body Slam Challenge":

"Wow 23 years. That was a magical moment. The buildup was incredible. I thought Vince was half crazy when he had me going from being a narcissist looking in mirrors with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan to being like a big "Yankee-Doodle Dandy patriotic hero. I was scratching my head but it turned out fantastic and was a very special moment. The crowd went insane and it happened just the way that Vince had worked it all out. It was just a very, very special moment that so many fans tell me that they were either there or watching it on television and what a great memory it was. It's definitely one of the main highlights of my career for sure."

Riding the Lex Express throughout the summer of '93:

"They gave me a huge send off at the WWE offices with Vince and the whole staff. It was probably about a six week long tour that literally almost went to every part of the country and with the crowds and the media attention and the fans I got to meet and autographs I got to sign it was just a great tour. Vince had brought my family in (my wife and kids) to hang out with me on the bus and they loved it. It was really, really enjoyable and again as you can imagine great memories and a lot of fun."
