Alexander is known for directing "Punisher: War Zone" and was nominated for an Academy Award for her "Johnny Flynton" short film. Her "Green Street Hooligans" movie with Charlie Hunnam and Elijah Wood won awards at SXSW in 2005 and she's also directed TV episodes of "Limitless," "Supergirl," and "Arrow."

Alexander, a former World Karate Association world champion, commented to Variety:

"I was pretty certain I'd stay in TV rather than returning to the feature world, because the material just seems so much better in TV, especially in drama, but then 'Crossface' came my way. A heartbreaking, true story about the dark side of wrestling. ? I couldn't say no to that."
