Harlin will direct the $20 million pic from a script by Daniel Kunka. Production starts Feb. 25 in New Orleans. It's WWE's first project to film in the U.S., with previous pics shot in Australia. The movie is set to hit theaters on March 27th, 2009.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was set to begin work on the feature film adaptation of DC Comics' Shazam! this August, but screenwriter John August posted a blog stating that the screenplay that was originally going to be used has been dismissed. According to August, Warner Bros. wanted a "darker" project after seeing the success of the recent Dark Knight Batman film. The Rock was going to play Black Adam, the film's villain.
