Highlights Of Great Matt Brown - Erick Silva Fight, Rampage Vs. King Mo This Sat., UFN 40 Salaries
- If you missed the incredible first round of action at UFC Fight Night 40 between Matt Brown and Erick Silva, check out the video above. The two welterweights went toe-to-toe for the opening five minutes, as Silva nearly had "The Immortal" finished after delivering a body shot.
Brown, though, worked his way back from the attack and dominated the Brazilian for the remaining fight, scoring a third round TKO for his seventh consecutive victory. The finish was his sixth during the streak and left him in a strong position as a title contender to UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks.
- Bellator 120 takes place this Saturday night from just outside Memphis, as former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson meets ex-Strikeforce champ Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal in the new main event. The winner will be crowned the Season 10 tournament champion, receive a check for $100,000 and a future title shot.
The new co-main event features Michael Chandler and Will Brooks meeting for the interim lightweight title. Chandler was originally scheduled to face Eddie Alvarez for the belt, but Alvarez suffered a head injury in training that knocked him out. Brooks was preparing to face Nate Jolly on the main card.
Other pay-per-view bouts include Tito Ortiz, another former UFC champion, taking on Alexander Shlemenko and the finals in the Season 10 heavyweight tournament. This marks the first PPV for Bellator, which was forced to cancel plans to hold a PPV show last year after Ortiz was injured.
- Matt Brown and Ed Herman each earned paychecks of over $80,000 for their wins at UFC Fight Night 40 this past Saturday. Brown topped Erick Silva and Herman downed Rafael Natal. The fighter salaries was confirmed by MMAjunkie.com from the Ohio Athletic Commission.
