Nate Diaz Rips UFC Signing CM Punk, TUF Weigh Ins, TUF Finalist Eyes Ronda Rousey's Success
- Although many UFC fighters, coaches and personalities have welcomed former WWE Champion CM Punk to the company with open arms, outspoken lightweight Nate Diaz is not one of them. Diaz spoke with MMA Junkie today and said the following:
"He might do great, but why does he get a chance?" Diaz asked. "He's an amateur. You're going to put an amateur in there with pros? That makes us all amateurs, so I think it's ridiculous. As far as I'm concerned, f-ck him, f-ck the whole situation."
Diaz, who fights this weekend, went on to say that Punk had a "Puny virgin nose." It's worth noting that Punk's nose has been broken at least twice.
- Ultimate Fighter 20 finalist Rose Namajunas has been drawing comparisons to UFC mega-star Ronda Rousey from UFC President Dana White. Namajunas, who earned three consecutive submission wins on the show said at an open workout, via MMA Fighting, that she hopes she can reach that level, but is staying humble:
"It's cool," Namajunas said. "I know I have a lot to look forward to as long as I stay on this path and stay focused and stay humble, train hard, be OK with everything coming my way. Find peace in this chaos."
Namajunas' boyfriend, former UFC fighter Pat Barry, added that he thinks she'll be the first of her own kind, instead of the next Rousey. Namajunas fights for the inaugural UFC Women's Strawweight title tomorrow night on Fox Sports 1.
- Speaking of The Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale, the fighters weighed in this evening. TUF 20 contestant Aisling Daly missed the mark big time, coming in at 118 pounds for her strawweight bout. The fight with Alex Chambers will go on as a catchweight bout. Charles Oliveira also missed weight, coming in a pound over. He'll have two hours to make weight.
