New UFC Title Challenger Announced, Daniel Cormier Wants To Fight Instead Of Surgery, Joanna Injury

- After three consecutive fights against competitors not at his caliber and three consecutive drubbings, it appears as if UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson may have a fight on his hands in that of former title challenger John Dodson.

UFC President Dana White told UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani that Dodson would get the next title fight against Johnson, although no date has been set. Johnson has requested to fight on UFC 191 in Las Vegas on September 5. Johnson defeated Dodson in a close title fight two and a half years ago.

- Speaking of champions, new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier has expressed his desire to fight at UFC 192 in Houston on October 3. His next opponent is expected to be Alexander Gustafsson.

One hurdle in Cormier's way, however, is the fact that he needs knee surgery, as one of his ACLs is almost completely gone. Cormier keeps putting it off, instead opting to get injections to treat the injury.

- Another champion needing surgery is UFC Women's Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who will have thumb surgery next week. The champion, who recently signed an endorsement deal with Reebok, is expected to be sidelined for two months, according to MMA Fighting.
