10 Moments That Solidified Wade Barrett's WWE Career
By JOEL KANANEN
Before "NXT" became the black and gold third brand of WWE, it was a competition show where WWE greats coached up-and-coming wrestlers to fight for a chance at a WWE contract. Mentored by the legendary Chris Jericho, Wade Barrett showed a strong heel personality and good in-ring skills, becoming the Season 1 champion.

In their first appearance on the June 7, 2010, episode of "Monday Night Raw," the group known as the Nexus debuted with Barrett as the leader. Barrett's ruthless leadership set him up as a top bad guy in the company, as he frequently excommunicated group members if they displeased him.

At Night of Champions 2010, Wade Barrett was inserted into a six-pack elimination match with legends such as John Cena, Randy Orton, and Edge. Even though he didn't win the match, Barrett proved he could go toe-to-toe with the best in the business and even eliminated John Cena with his Wasteland finisher.

The rivalry between John Cena and Wade Barrett came to a head at Hell in a Cell 2010, which had a stipulation stating that if Barrett won, John Cena would have to join Nexus, but if Cena won, Nexus would have to disband forever. Barrett triumphed over Cena, forcing him to work for the group that had tormented him for so long.

At Summerslam 2011, Wade Barrett faced off against the crowd favorite Daniel Bryan, who had already defeated Barrett at Money In The Bank months prior. The history between these two original members of Nexus made for an exciting match, and Barrett's victory proved just how skilled he was.
