10 Times The Royal Rumble Sent WWE Fans Home Angry
By BENJAMIN FALBO
The 1994 Royal Rumble ended with Bret "The Hitman" Hart and Lex Luger facing off against each other. Hart was the favorite to win, so when both men eliminated each other simultaneously, the match was considered a draw — many fans were upset, especially when Hart ended up winning the Wrestlemania X title anyways.

The worst parts of the attitude era were on full display during the 1999 Royal Rumble, but what sent fans over the edge was the match's winner, WWE CEO Vince McMahon. To shake up the Royal Rumble formula, WWE bumped up the number of competitors from 30 to 40, filling those extra 10 spots with mid-to-lower card enhancement talent. This made the event a slog to sit through, and the match's winner, Alberto Del Rio, left fans with very little to be happy about.

The 2012 Royal Rumble was yet another event that lacked star power, leading to a bland match that ended with Sheamus dumping Chris Jericho. Many fans had been waiting for Jericho to win a Rumble, but WWE decided to be unpredictable and let Sheamus win — a strange move that led to Sheamus' infamous 18-second win over Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania.

By the end of 2013, the WWE fanbase was firmly behind Daniel Bryan, so the fans were outraged when number 30 was revealed to be Rey Mysterio instead of Bryan. The event ended with Batista winning against Roman Reigns, which led many fans, including Mick Foley, to bash the result online.
