Becky Lynch's Career Before Signing With The WWE
By COLBY APPLEGATE
Multi-time WWE Women's Champion Becky Lynch began her wrestling training when she was 15 years old under Finn Balor in Ireland. Lynch, whose real name is Rebecca Knox, sustained a major concussion in 2006 while competing in Germany, which forced her to put her wrestling career on hold.
During the seven years that she spent away from the ring, Lynch tried out various jobs, including serving as a flight attendant for Aer Lingus for over two years. She suffered from depression during this period in her life, admitting, "I knew it wasn't what I wanted to do with my life. I didn't know how to get out, so it was a tough time for me."
After obtaining her B.A. in acting and participating in stunt work for the TV show "Vikings," Lynch took part in a WWE tryout in Birmingham, England. She impressed the likes of William Regal and Jim Ross at the tryout and signed with the "NXT" brand in 2013 — her first stepping stone for superstardom in WWE.
