By RAPHAEL GARCIA
To learn the ropes, Chelsea Green was trained by Lance Storm, a 26-year veteran with championship victories in ECW, WCW, and WWE. Regarding her trainer, Green said, "He starts from day one from the basics and he builds from the ground up," adding, "Lance teaches you how to entertain and how to build a match."

Green's first match happened on May 31, 2014, at ECCW Better Than You, where she teamed with Brady Malibu and MR2 in a losing effort. In 2015, she continued in the Canadian independent wrestling scene, defeating Gisele Shaw in a one-day tournament for the vacant ASW Women’s Championship before continuing her career in the United States and Japan.
Green's First Matches
Signing with Impact Wrestling as Laurel Van Ness in June 2016, Green had multiple feuds with Gail Kim, Allie, Madison Rayne, and Brandi Rhodes, and it was around this time when she began using her "Hot Mess" gimmick. Green finished 2016 with another stint in Japan, taking multiple matches in Stardom.
