Triple H confirmed the news during Tuesday's NXT media conference call. News of Itami's injury broke weeks ago, but with several weeks of NXT TV already filmed, the WWE had been tight-lipped about the situation.

Itami was set to take on Tyler Breeze and Finn Balor in a triple-threat match to determine a number one contender to the WWE NXT Title. Triple H said that while Itami won't be wrestling on the show, he will be represented from a storyline perspective.

Preliminary reports suggest that Itami sustained a severe shoulder injury, that will require surgery. His estimated time out of the ring was anywhere between 6 to 8 months.
