- UFC President Dana White told Yahoo Sports this week that next week's UFC 189 event will set a UFC record for the largest paid gate in the U.S. The current gate record is $6.9 million held by UFC 148 in 2012, which was headlined by the highly anticipated Anderson Silva – Chael Sonnen rematch. White also noted that they had only received 50 requests for refunds after UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo was forced to pull out of the main event, and those tickets were quickly sold.
