- The UFC's debut in New York City appears to have its first big-time bout, as UFC president Dana White confirmed recently that Robbie Lawler and Donald Cerrone have fight contracts in their hands. UFC 205 takes place this November from Madison Square Garden.

While not yet official, the welterweight bout would likely serve as one of the main card fights for the night. The UFC is expected to have at least one championship match headline the event, which marks the first UFC card to take place in New York since they legalized MMA.

Lawler is a former UFC welterweight champion who lost the belt earlier this year to Tyron Woodley. Cerrone, a former lightweight title challenger, is 3-0 since moving up to 170 pounds.

- Former interim UFC heavyweight champion Shane Carwin is officially on the market, as the 41-year-old announced plans to return to MMA. However, Carwin will not do so inside the Octagon, as he is a free agent.

"Officially no longer with the UFC," Carwin posted on Twitter. "Thanks Ingrained Media for your tireless work."

Carwin, who lost in 2011 to Junior dos Santos and announced his retirement shortly after due to back and knee issues, fought Brock Lesnar for the unified title in 2010. Dos Santos and Lesnar were the only fighters to defeat Carwin during his MMA career.
