TNA Impact Results 4/23 - World Title On The Line, Matt Hardy & Nic Nemeth In Action

At Rebellion, Bear Bronson won the tag titles with Brian Meyers. Last week, he had a heated confrontation with Nic Nemeth. Nemeth told Bronson, he'd face him anytime, any place. That time is tonight.

Last week at WrestleCon, The Righteous confronted The Hardys. Tonight, Matt Hardy will go one-on-one with Dutch. Hardy posted a video to social media warning that it's "almost broken season".

During last week's iMPACT, Mike Santana said he wanted to give out some opportunities and wanted to face someone who changed his life for the better: Rich Swann. Swann said he respects what Santana has done and knows title opportunities don't come along often. He promised to give every ounce of fire he has when they face off tonight.

Also at Rebellion, Xia Brookside turned on Lei Ying Lee and cost her the Knockouts title. She's been quiet since, but breaks her silence tonight. We'll also hear from Elayna Black.

Last Thursday, Elijah attacked Frankie Kazarian backstage. After being held back by security, Kaz was able to flee. Tonight, Elijah will send a message via a special concert.

The System comes to the ring first as Ryan Nemeth joins commentary. Nic follows. Bear backed him into the corner and chopped him. He pulled him up by the hair & chopped him again. They exchange blows. Bear catches him in a crossbody attempt & slams him to the mat. He follows with a lariat and an elbow drop. Nemeth responds with a headbutt. Bear responds with a spinebuster. Alicia gets involved while the ref is distracted. Bear with a side slam & puts him in a side headlock.

Nemeth fights back & forearms him twice, but Bear doesn't go down. He rained down forearm shots & landed the FameAsser. Nemeth went for a Superkick & Bear chokebombs him for two. Nemeth sends Bear into the turnbuckle. Bear slams him down, but Nemeth levels him with a Superkick. Bear levels him & slams him again and covers him for 2.99. Bear punched him in the head until Nemeth rolls to the floor. The System surrounds him as KC Navarro distracts them. Nemeth super kicked Bear & followed with Danger Zone for the win.

Winner: Nic Nemeth

Elijah's music hits and someone dressed as him comes to the ring. It's Kaz! He says "hello, I am Elijah!" He says knows that he looks like a homeless mental patient, but he looks like that on purpose. He said he's got a case of the blues because Kaz has beaten him. He wrote a ballad called "Kaz Is My Daddy". 

The lights go down & Elijah chokes him out with a guitar strap. He sits down and says "Hello! I am Elijah." They're going to have a guitar strap match. He sings "Syracuse Knows" and the crowd responds, "Kaz blows!" He shouts out a local restaurant.

Jeff & Vincent are banned from ringside. Dutch comes to the ring first. Hardy follows and immediately grabs a table. He spray paints "sacrifice" on it before getting in the ring. Dutch immediately pounds him. They exchange blows. They block each other's moves. Dutch bit Hardy. Hardy landed Side Effect and lays in punches. They battle on the outside and Hardy sends Dutch over the steps. He slammed Dutch's head into the side of the steps repeatedly. He yelled in his face, "you will be my sacrifice!" before yelling "delete!"

After the break, Dutch sent Hardy to the corner and landed a sidewalk slam. He followed with a side headlock. He went for a standing splash, but Hardy rolled away. Dutch tried to block Twist of Fate, but Hardy landed a DDT & then a Twist of Fate. Dutch rolled to the outside & Hardy put him on the table. Hardy landed an elbow, but the table flipped over and a leg broke. Hardy sacrificed himself. Hardy set the table up against the apron and suplexed him into the table & it finally brakes in half.

Back in the ring, the ref checked on Dutch and Vincent slid a chart in the ring. He pulled Hardy's arm over the rope while the ref was getting rid of the chair. Dutch lands Death Walks for the win.

Winner: Dutch

After the match, Vincent sits in a chair while Dutch pummels Hardy. Jeff's music hits and goes for Twist of Fate on Vincent, but hits it on Dutch & followed with a Swanton Bomb.

Lei Ying Lee comes to the ring first and apologized because her "English isn't perfect." She said that night was really bad for her. She loves wrestling, TNA, & her friends. "Xia, she's my best friend. Why? Why did you do that to me?" She calls Brookside to the ring.

Brookside comes to the ring. She said "how dare you call me out here when you were the one in the wrong?" She said if they were best friends, they would settle it in the ring. She cost Brookside the match by  getting in her head with the video of her dad, who never supported her. Brookside refuses to translate for Lee. Brookside said she has no idea the presentation of a second generation wrestler. She says she was alone. Lee says she knows how it feels to be alone. She was alone when she came to TNA, but found Brookside. Lee tried to help her & didn't mean to hurt her feelings & she says she's sorry. She will always be by Brookside's side. Brookside said, "you are right. I made a mistake." She thought she was going to win the championship & then Lee showed her the video of her dad. She didn't realize she had the support. Stacks was in her ear talking about Birthright. The championship meant so much to her. She says Lee is her best friend & she deserves to win that title. She accepted Lee's apology & says she's sorry too.  They hug and Brookside sends her to the mat & attacks Lee. Brookside pulled her up by the hair & planted her before refs sent her away.

Black comes to the ring first where Arquette is waiting. 

They start with stand & switches. Black sends her to the mat and follows with three slingblades. She sat on the apron after. Arquette joined her & Black sends her to the floor. Black stomps on her back and pinned her for two. She put her in a half Nelson. Arquette takes her down with a shoulder tackle. Black connected with Blackout for the win.

Winner: Elayna Black

Backstage, Mustafa Ali learns that he'll be facing Adam Brooks in the Open Challenge for his title next week.

Backstage, Bronson said his loss to Nemeth is a mistake that will be corrected. Cedric Alexander said he had Leon Slater pinned. Alexander deserves another title shot because Slater cheated.

Swann comes to the ring first. Earlier in the night, he told BDE to stay in the back because he wants to win on his own. Santana follows. 

This is their first one-on-one matchup. Santana sends him to the corner before working his arm and maintaining control/ Swann hit Santana and put him in a wrist lock. Santana sent Swann to a knee while putting him in a wristlock. They exchange holds & Santana sends him to the mat. Santana tests his strength. Swann pushes back and they're on the mat. They each do a bridge to get up. Swann lands a hurricanrana. Both men go for dropkicks & fall to the mat.

Santana puts him in a headlock & Swann goes to a knee. Swann responds with a hurricanrana and dropkick. Santana chopped him. They run the ropes until Santana lands a dropkick. He follows with an Alabama Slam, sent Swann into the turnbuckle before following with a sidewalk slam & a senton. Swann goes to the outside. Santana chops him against the barricade. Swann does the same. Santana connected with a boot to the chin and sent him to the floor.

After the break, Swann delivers a running kick from the apron. Swann put Santana in a chair and kicked him and runs halfway around the ring to kick Santana in the face. He runs halfway around the ring before sliding through the ring and kicked him again. Swann runs again and eats a Superkick. Santana went up top and Swann kicked him in midair. Swann goes up top, but Santana joined him before landing a superplex. Both men are down and get to their feet at 8.

They exchange blows & Santana takes him down. He followed with an enzuiguri and the Rolling Buck 50. Swann rolled him up. Santana connected with Outlined in Chalk and then a cannonball and a running powerbomb. Swann kicks him in the face twice and sends him down before getting in multiple jabs. He followed with a neckbreaker. Swann attempted a 450 Splash, but Santana rolled through. Swann delivered a cutter. Swann sent Santana to the mat and lands a splash and pins him for 2.5. Santana slammed him, but Swann responds with a Destroyer and a Superkick. Santana quickly lands Spin the Block for the win.

Winner (and still): Mike Santana

Daria Rae comes out in TNA hat because Carlos Silva couldn't be there. Santana helps Swann up and they shake hands. Rae puts the title on Santana's shoulder.
