TNA Thursday Night Impact Results 5/21 - Two Championships On The Line & More

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.'s results for "TNA Thursday Night Impact" on May 21, 2026, coming to you from the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, California!

Steve Maclin was unsuccessful in challenging Mike Santana for the TNA World Championship at TNA Sacrifice on March 27 due to the match ending in referee stoppage when Maclin sustained an injury. Tonight, he will have another change to dethrone Santana as he challenges him for the TNA World Championship once again. While Eric Young became the next challenger for Santana's TNA World Championship when he won a Number One Contenders Battle Royal during last Thursday's edition of "Thursday Night Impact", TNA Director of Operations Daria Rae decided to instead give Maclin another shot in a verbal confrontation between her and Santana later that same night.

Mustafa Ali of Order 4 promised to give talent on both the TNA roster and talent across the world a chance to challenge him for the International Championship a few weeks ago. Tonight, he will be putting his title on the line as he defends against Chazz "Starboy" Hall. Currently signed to a WWE ID contract, Starboy has wrestled for promotions across the world since 2015 including AEW, GCW, DEFY Wrestling, House of Glory, Pro Wrestling NOAH, and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Indi Hartwell will be in action as she goes head-to-head with Elayna Black. With Hartwell's recent suspension by Daria Rae having been lifted, she found herself involved in a verbal confrontation between Black and Ash By Elegance on the May 7 episode of "Thursday Night Impact" as she tried to reason with them that the TNA Knockouts World Championship was more important than money.

The Righteous' Vincent will be colliding with Matt Hardy in singles competition, with their respective tag team partners Dutch and Jeff Hardy benign handcuffed to the ring post. The Hardys and The Righteous have had issues with one another over the course of the last few weeks dating back to a backstage attack that The Righteous had launched on Matt a handful of weeks ago, with Matt scoring a win against Dutch on April 23 episode of "Thursday Night Impact".

Additionally, The System will be appearing in the opening moments of tonight's show after Cedric Alexander put an end to Leon Slater's hopes of becoming the longest reigning X-Division Champion of all time by dethroning him in a 2-Out-Of-3 Falls Match last Thursday. Xia Brookside will also be taking on Jada Stone as she continues to have her eye on her former best friend Léi Yǐng Lee's TNA Knockouts World Championship.

We are live! Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt greet audiences at home as The System makes their way to the ring.

We Hear From The System

Alisha Edwards asks the fans if they want to know something, then hands the microphone over to Eddie Edwards. Eddie says the fans are looking at the most dominant force in all of TNA Wrestling history, then says Cedric Alexander dethroning Leon Slater last week as X-Divison Champion was a statement that professional wrestling belongs to The System. He says The System is one step closer to holding all the gold in TNA Wrestling, then puts Mike Santana on notice and hands the microphone over to Brian Myers.

Myers asks the fans if they think that he and Bear Bronson as TNA World Tag Team Champions or if Alexander sucks as X-Division Champion, then says Eddie is a future TNA World Champion and a future TNA Wrestling Hall of Famer. He says The System is full of winners, and Bronson adds that every person who steps up to The System gets taken out no matter how good they are. He says The System doesn't care who believes because the result will always be the same: those who step up to The System will be eaten alive by the stable.

Alexander says Leon Slater was one day away from becoming the longest reigning X-Division Champion of all time, but he became the record taker and calls out Fabian Aichner (formerly known as Giovanni Vinci in WWE).

Aichner makes his way out and says he's not just some gimmick, but a future TNA Champion. He says the X-Division Championship looks really good and he's in TNA Wrestling to take his spot.

Aichner levels Bronson and Myers on the outside, then sends Eddie crashing out of the ring. Alexander looks to deliver a Lumbar Check on Aichner in the ring, but Aichner escapes and cinches in a sleeper on Alexander until The System comes to Aichner's aid.

We then head over to a video of a conversation between Daria Rae and Steve Maclin, where Rae tells Maclin that he saw his value when the TNA Board of Directors didn't and says he has an opportunity to take out Mike Santana like no one else has been able to.

Back from the break, Elayna Black then makes her way to the ring. Indi Hartwell follows, and Arianna Grace and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo join the commentary desk.

Indi Hartwell vs. Elayna Black

The bell rings and the two lock up. Black shoves Hartwell, but Hartwell responds with a shove of her own and delivers a clothesline to Black. She runs over Black with a big boot, then delivers an uppercut to her through the middle rope and follows it up with a second big boot. She goes for a pin, but Black kicks out.

Hartwell rains down right hands on Black in the corner of the ring, but Black catches Hartwell with a strike and uses the ropes to deliver a stomp to Hartwell's spine. She whips Hartwell into the corner and lands a step-up knee on her, then wears her down with a submission hold.

Hartwell escapes and rocks Black with a right hand, then levels her with a pair of clotheslines and follows it up with a spinebuster. Stacks hops up on the apron, opening the door for Grace to push Hartwell off the top rope. Having caught Grace, the referee calls for the bell.

Winner: N/A (no contest due to outside interference)

After the match, Grace rains down right hands on Hartwell and dumps her out of the ring as she mocks Hartwell by telling her that's how it feels. She blames Santino Marella as the cause for her losing the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship to Léi Yǐng Lee.

Marella's music hits and he makes his way out. He reminds Grace that Lee beat her, then says the only unfinished thing around TNA Wrestling is Grace's attitude and says she should be grounded. He calls Grace a brat and says Stacks is filling Grace's head with garbage, then stares Stacks down.

Marella grabs the Cobra sock, but Daria Rae makes her way out to ask Marella what he's doing. She says Marella is supposed to be the Director of Authority, but he's picking a fight with talent and mocks Marella for being a judo fighter as she calls judo the weakest of the martial arts. She tells Marella to go through the proper channels and submit a request to the Board of Directors if he wants to get his hands on Stacks.

Back from the break, we head over to The Elegance Brand's dressing room. The group is looking at themselves in the mirror, but the lights suddenly go out and when they come back on, they find a message written on their mirror in lipstick from Rosemary, Allie, and Mara Sadè telling them that they'll see them soon.

Back at ringside, The Righteous make their way to the ring and Vincent calls out "Broken" Matt Hardy. "Broken" Matt Hardy appears alongside Brother Nero.

Vincent vs. Broken Matt Hardy - Dutch and Brother Nero Are Handcuffed To Adjacent Ring Posts

The bell rings and the two lock up. Matt bites Vincent and sends him crashing off the ring apron with a right hand, but Dutch trips Matt as he runs the ropes and Vincent takes advantage by raining down right hands on Matt.

Dutch lands a cheap kick on Matt on the outside, and Vincent wears down Matt with a submission hold on the outside. He dumps him back in the ring, then fires off stomps on Matt in the corner and wears him down with another submission hold before the two men exchange right hands with one another.

Back from the break, Matt lands a powerbomb on Vincent and goes for a pin. Vincent kicks out, but Matt lands a clothesline on Vincent in the corner. Vincent grabs onto his ankle and undoes his boot to check on what's going on.

Matt looks to go after Vincent, but the referee stops him and Vincent's ankle is checked on by a medical official. Vincent suddenly whips around and looks to hit Matt with his boot, but Matt sees Vincent coming and bites his foot. Matt then delivers a Side Effect to Vincent and pins him, but Vincent kicks out and sends Matt crashing into the corner of the ring.

Vincent levels Matt with a back elbow and pins him, but Matt kicks out and Vincent ascends to the top rope. Matt bites Vincent's finger and pulls him off the top rope, but the referee accidentally gets knocked over. He grabs the key to unlock the handcuffs on Dutch, but the lights go out and when they come back on, Brother Nero has escaped his handcuffs and Willow is standing in the ring. He hits Vincent twice with his umbrella, opening the door for Matt to land Side Effect on Vincent for the win.

Winner: "Broken" Matt Hardy

We then head backstage, where AJ Francis finds Elijah playing his guitar backstage and proposes a collaboration with him. Elijah declines his offer and says he would rather do his own thing, but Francis clarifies that he was proposing a musical collaboration with Elijah rather than a tag team. Elijah still declines to collaborate with Francis and tells him that he's a drifter who walks alone.

We then head over to the Injury Report, where we find out that Indi Hartwell is under evaluation. Mike Santana and Steve Maclin have also been medically cleared, but the aforementioned Francis, KC Navarro, and Moose have not been medically cleared.

Back from the break, Santino Marella announces that a Men's Champions Challenge and a Women's Champions Challenge will be happening next week. Daria Rae interrupts Marella and informs Marella that the Board of Directors approved a match between him and Channing "Stacks" Lorenoz for next week. The System then approaches Rae and Eddie Edwards asks for a match against Fabian Aichner next week. Rae approves it.

Back at ringside, Chazz "Starboy" Hall makes his way to the ring. Order 4 follows.

Mustafa Ali (w/ Order 4) (c) vs. Starboy for the TNA International Championship

The bell rings and the two lock up. Starboy levels Ali with a dropkick, then levels him with a boot. John Skyler hops onto the apron to distract Starboy as he stands on the ropes, opening the door for Ali to trip Starboy and deliver a right hand to his spine while Starboy sits Ali on the top rope.

Ali joins Starboy on the ropes, but Starboy delivers a hurricanrana to Ali and looks to land a moonsault on him off the ropes. Ali looks to block it, but Starboy catches Ali with a DDT and follows it up with Cosmic Swirl. Ali then rolls up Starboy for the win.

Winner (and still): Mustafa Ali

We then head backstage, where Mara Sadè asks Keith Jardine if he'll be in her corner for the Women's Champions Challenge next week in order to prevent Mr. Elegance from interfering in things. Jardine agrees.

Back from the break, Jada Stone makes her way out. Xia Brookside follows.

Xia Brookside vs. Jada Stone

The bell rings and Brookside retreats out of the ring. She gets back in the ring, but Stone takes her down with a hurricanrana and lands a pair of back elbows on her in the corner. She follows it up with a single leg dropkick to Brookside and ascends up the ropes, but Brookside grabs her ankle to stop her. Stone delivers a knee to the side of Brookside's face, but Brookside catches Stone with Darkside for the win.

Winner: Xia Brookside

Steve Maclin then makes his way to the ring. Mike Santana follows.

Mike Santana (c) vs. Steve Maclin for the TNA World Championship

The bell rings and Maclin moves out of the way to avoid a superkick from Santana. Santana whips Maclin into the ropes and lands a shotgun dropkick on him, then follows it up with a running senton on Maclin. Santana flies off the ropes to level Maclin on the outside, but Maclin pulls a table from under the ring and sends Santana's head bouncing off the table.

Maclin delivers a chop block to Santana's knee, then sends Santana's head bouncing off the ring steps and stares down TNA President Carlos Silva on the outside. Maclin gets Santana back in the ring and continues wearing down his knee with a submission hold. Santana rocks Maclin with a series of forearms, but Maclin delivers a dropkick to Santana's knee in the corner.

Back from the break, Santana connects with The Three Amigos on Maclin. He sends Maclin crashing into the mat off his shoulders, then catches him with a cutter and goes for a pin. Maclin kicks out, but Santana delivers a powerbomb and a Blue Thunder bomb to Maclin before he pins him. Maclin kicks out, but Santana sets up for Spin The Block. Maclin avoids it and connects with an Olympic Slam on Santana, then delivers an over the shoulder powerslam to Santana and goes for a pin. Santana kicks out.

Santana sends Maclin crashing off the ropes and through a table on the outside with a big boot. He dumps him back in the ring and ascends to the top rope, then lands a Frog Splash on him and goes for a pin. Maclin manages to kick out.

Santana calls for Spin The Block, but Maclin drops down and the referee checks on him. Maclin surprises Santana with a superkick and pins him, but Santana kicks out and Maclin sets up for KIA. Santana avoids it and delivers Spin The Block on Maclin for the win.

Winner (and still): Mike Santana
