WWE NXT Results 6/16 - Jaida Parker Faces Nattie, Number One Contenders Match & More

Myles Borne will be finding out who his next challenger for the North American Championship is, as Tavion Heights collides with Jackson Drake of Vanity Project. With Heights having gotten into a couple of arguments with his former No Quarter Catch Crew stablemate Borne backstage over the last couple of weeks, he encountered Drake and the rest of Vanity Project in a brief backstage encounter during last Tuesday's show.
NXT Champion Tony D'Angelo will be meeting with Naraku as the latter has continued to have his eye on the former's title. Naraku emerged victorious against Mason Rook in a Number One Contenders match during last Tuesday's edition of "NXT" to secure a shot at D'Angelo's NXT Championship at "NXT" The Great American Bash on June 28.
Tensions between Jaida Parker and Nattie have been on the rise over the last several weeks, with the pair sending a series of messages to one another via videos and interviews. Parker also recently invaded a practice session that Nattie held at her professional wrestling school The Dungeon 2.0, which led to a brawl between the two women. Following such events, the two women will be squaring off against one another in the ring tonight.
Additionally, as of last Tuesday's show, a Women's Speed Championship Number One Contenders Tournament to determine Wren Sinclair's next challenger will be kicking off tonight. Izzi Dame of The Culling goes head-to-head with Thea Hail, and Arianna Grace of BirthRight collides with Layla Diggs in a pair of first round matches.
We are live! Vic Joseph and Corey Graves greet audiences at home before throwing it to a video recapping some of the events of last Tuesday's show.
Zaria then makes her way to the ring.
We Hear From Zaria
Zaria says she spent a long time living in Sol Ruca's shadow and says it felt like she forgot what the sun felt like, then gloats about becoming the new Women's North American Champion and says she did it all by herself. She says when people talked about the "NXT" women's division, they talked about people like Lola Vice and Ruca but now the Women's North American Championship is a mistake that will be fixed and says she won't be in the shadows any longer.
Kelani Jordan's music hits and she makes her way out to congratulate Zaria as the first ever Women's North American Championship. She thanks Zaria on her behalf for making the Women's North American Championship prestigious enough, but Zaria asks Jordan what she wants.
Jordan offers Zaria's some advice and says the fans currently cheering Zaria on will turn their backs on her eventually. She says Zaria will become overlooked and advises her to hold onto the Women's North American Championship very closely, then vents about still not having a shot at the NXT Women's Championship after herself and Kendal Grey have one win apiece against one another.
Kendal Grey's music hits and she makes her way out. She says she simply beat Jordan and now has a shot at the NXT Women's Championship at The Great Americano Bash, but Lola Vice's music cuts Zaria off when Zaria begins to talk and she makes her way out. She says Zaria has been a champion for a week, but tells her to get over Ruca. She tells Grey that she's beaten her, but Jordan gets in Vice's face for talking about Grey and all four women begin to fight.
Robert Stone appears on the entrance ramp, and Vice fills in the blanks by making the correct assumption that herself and Grey will be taking on Zaria and Jordan in a tag team match tonight.
Tavion Heights then makes his way to the ring. Vanity Project follows.
Jackson Drake (w/ Vanity Project) vs. Tavion Heights in a Number One Contenders Match for the North American Championship
The bell rings and the two men take turns trying to pin one another. Heights runs over Drake with a shoulder tackle, then sends him crashing into the mat with a powerslam and sends Drake crashing into the mat face first. Heights delivers a gut wrench T-Bone suplex to Drake and pins him, but Drake kicks out and Heights wears him down with an arm submission hold.
We see Myles Borne watching the action from backstage as Drake delivers a neck twist to Heights. Heights dumps Drake across the ring and fires off shoulders on his midsection in the corner, then lands a back body drop on him .Ricky Smokes hops up on the apron, but Heights knocks him onto the floor. This opens the door for Drake to send Heights crashing out of the ring and into the ring steps.
Drake dumps Heights back into the ring during the commercial break, but Heights wears down Drake with a submission hold. Drake wears down Heights with a submission of his own, but Heights levels Drake with a pair of clotheslines and a Sling Blade. Drake catches Heights with a springboard cutter off the ropes and delivers a standing moonsault to him back from the break, then goes for a pin but Heights kicks out.
Drake sends Heights crashing out of the ring and connects with a suicide dive to him on the outside, then kips up and dumps Heights back inside the ring. He ascends to the top rope, but Heights meets him up there and delivers a belly-to-belly throw on Drake.
Heights climbs back up to the top rope and delivers a Frog Splash to him, then goes for a pin but Drake kicks out. Myka Lockwood distracts the referee as Brad Baylor and Smokes look to interfere, but Borne runs out to the ring to take out Baylor and Smokes. While Heights momentarily stares down Borne, he delivers a scoop powerslam to Drake for the win.
Winner (and new Number One Contender): Tavion Heights
Thea Hail then makes her way to the ring. The Culling follows.
Izzi Dame (w/ Shawn Spears and Niko Vance) vs. Thea Hail in a First Round Match For The WWE Women's Speed Championship Number One Contenders Tournament
The bell rings as the three minute time limit begins, and Hail rolls up Dame. Dame kicks out and delivers a sit-out powerbomb on Hail, then goes for a pin but Hail kicks out. Dame manages to pin Hail, but the referee catches Dame's feet on the ropes.
The clock passes two remaining minutes as Dame sends Hail crashing into the ring apron spine first on the outside. She runs her over with a boot and dumps her inside the ring, but Hail lands a shotgun dropkick on Dame and follows it up with a blockbuster. She goes for a pin, but Dame kicks out and Hail cinches in an arm submission on her. Dame transitions into a pinfall, but Hail kicks out and looks to land a springboard senton on Dame. Dame rolls out of the way and runs over Hail with a knee for the win as the clock approaches thirty remaining seconds.
Winner: Izzi Dame
Tony D'Angelo and Naraku Meet With One Another
Naraku bows to D'Angelo as he approaches him and invites him to take a seat. D'Angelo does so and tells Naraku he knows how these kinds of meetings go. Naraku says he got their The Great American Bash contract from Robert Stone to sign, but D'Angelo says he knows Naraku is a good guy and says he did his research on what Naraku did in Japan. Naraku insists that the past is in the past, but D'Angelo says that while Naraku wants to do things the traditional way to protect his NXT Championship, he didn't do that in Japan.
D'Angelo says Naraku thinks he can win the NXT Championship himself at The Great American Bash, but he moved his entire life around the world for a title that's staying with him. He calls for Naraku to hand him the contract, and Naraku does so. D'Angelo notes that Naraku didn't sign the contract, but Naraku says he will in due time. D'Angelo then signs the contract.
Back at ringside, Jaida Parker makes her way out. Nattie follows.
Jaida Parker vs. Nattie
The bell rings and Nattie hops out of the ring. She gets back inside and wears down Parker with a couple of submission holds, then stares her down and wears her down with another submission hold. Parker wears down Nattie with a submission of her own, but Nattie escapes and sends Parker crashing into the mat spine first.
Nattie rocks Parker with a kick, but the action spills out of the ring and the two women level one another with clotheslines. Both women return inside the ring during the commercial break, but Parker catches Nattie with a boot and sends her crashing into the corner. She fires off shoulders on Nattie's midsection, but Nattie wears down Parker with a Figure Four Leg Lock and cinches in a Bow and Arrow on her back from the break.
Parker runs over Nattie with a shoulder tackle and a clothesline, then follows it up with a big boot to her and wears her down with Rings of Saturn. She transitions into a pinfall, but Nattie kicks out and looks to lock in a Sharpshooter on Parker. Parker avoids it and pins Nattie, but Nattie kicks out and Parker sends her crashing out of the rig with a Hip Attack.
Nattie pulls Parker off the ring steps as Parker is on them, then sends her crashing into them midsection first and dumps her back in the ring. Parker rolls up Nattie, but Nattie kicks out and levels Parker with a discus lariat. She cinches in a Sharpshooter on Parker, but Parker looks to crawl over to the bottom rope to break the hold. Nattie pulls Parker back into the middle of the ring, and Parker taps out.
Winner: Nattie
After the match, Nikkita Lyons and Karmen Petrovic join Nattie on the entrance ramp to celebrate her win with her.
Back at ringside, BirthRight makes their way out. Layla Diggs follows.
Arianna Grace vs. Layla Diggs in a First Round Match For The WWE Women's Speed Championship Number One Contenders Tournament
The bell rings as the three minute time limit begins, and the two women take turns rolling one another up. The action spills out of the ring, and Diggs sends Grace's face bouncing off the entrance ramp. She connects with a facebuster and a shining wizard on Grace back in the ring, then goes for a pin but Grace kicks out.
Grace levels Diggs with a running uppercut as the clock passes two remaining minutes, then connects with a strike on her. Diggs sends Grace crashing into the mat spine first and ascends up the ropes, but Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo hops up onto the apron to distract Diggs. Diggs sends him crashing off the apron and onto the floor with a boot, then levels Stacks, Charlie Dempsey, Uriah Connors, and Lexis King with a moonsault off the ropes. This opens the door for Grace to roll up Diggs for the wine when Diggs gets back inside the ring.
Winner: Arianna Grace
Kelani Jordan and Zaria then make their way to the ring. Lola Vice, Kendal Grey, and Wren Sinclair follow.
Lola Vice and Kendal Grey (w/ Wren Sinclair) vs. Kelani Jordan and Zaria
Vice and Jordan begin the action. The bell rings and Jordan delivers a crossbody to Jordan. Grey tags in and lands a dropkick on Jordan's midsection from the ring apron, but Zaria and Vice tag in and Zaria catches Vice with a back suplex. Grey tags back in, but Zaria delivers a knee to her off the middle rope and Jordan lands a flying right hand on Grey off the ring apron as Zaria distracts the referee.
Zaria fires off shoulders on Grey's midsection during the commercial break and whips her into the corner spine first. Jordan tags back in and continues to wear down Grey, then looks to whip Grey into the corner back from the break. Grey stops her own momentum and knocks Zaria off the aprons with a dropkick under the bottom rope. She then tags in Vice.
Vice wears down Jordan and fends off an interfering Zaria, then delivers a pair of Hip Attacks to Jordan in the corner. Unbeknownst to her, Zaria has tagged in and blindsided Vice with a right hand. Grey tags back in and lands a belly-to-belly throw on Zaria, then connects with a pair of German suplexes on her and cinches in a Fujiwara armbar on her.
Vice cinches in a sleeper hold on Zaria as Gre cinches in an Ankle Lock on Jordan. Jordan sends Grey crashing out of the ring and through the middle rope, and Zaria sends Vice crashing into the corner. Zaria then charges at Vice, but Vice sends Zaria crashing into the ring post shoulder first.
Jordan takes out Grey on the outside, but Vice levels Jordan. Zaria spears Vice and gets her up on her shoulders, but Tatum Paxley appears in the crowd. Zaria looks to level Paxley with a right hand, but Paxley ducks out of the way. This opens the door for Vice to take out Zaria and deliver the 305 to her for the win. While Jordan looks to break the fall, Grey manages to hold her off by blocking her path.
Winners: Lola Vice and Kendal Grey
After the match, Zaria Jordan grabs the NXT Women's Championship from Vice, but Grey takes it from Jordan and looks to hit her with it. Jordan ducks out of the way, and Grey accidentally hits Vice. Grey apologizes profusely to Vice and insists that she didn't mean to hit her as Jordan watches from behind them and the show goes off the air.
