AEW Dynamite 6/17 - Women's Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament Semifinals Match & More

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.'s live coverage for "AEW Dynamite" on June 17, 2026, coming to you live from the Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land in Houston, Texas!

Former TBS Champion Mercedes Mone will be going head-to-head with World Wonder Ring Stardom star and reigning SPARK Joshi World Champion Hazuki in a semifinals match for the 2026 Women's Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament. With the winner of tonight's match set to face the winner of another semifinals match between Athena and Maya World at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 28, Mone defeated Alex Windsor in the quarterfinals to advance while Hazuki emerged victorious against reigning CMLL World Women's Champion Persephone in the quarterfinals.

Mark Briscoe has been seeking out a shot at MJF's AEW World Championship over the last couple of weeks, but MJF has refused to give him such. That all changed during last Wednesday's edition of "Dynamite" when MJF agreed to give Mark an AEW World Championship match, but on the condition that himself and five other wrestlers defeat MJF and five more wrestlers in a Twelve Man Steel Cage Match at Forbidden Door. Not only will MJF and Briscoe be revealing who they've selected for their Forbidden Door teams, but they will also be taking part in a Twelve Man Tag Team Match with ten other competitors who have yet to be revealed.

Additionally, Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay will be meeting with one another before they square off against one another in the finals of the 2026 Men's Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament at Forbidden Door. The winner of the June 28 pay-per-view match will receive a shot at the AEW World Championship at AEW All In on August 30.

We are live! We immediately head backstage, where Lexy Nair stands by with MJF as he's flanked by The Don Callis Family. MJF voices the bright future that he thinks Kevin Knight has ahead of him, then calls out 2026 Men's Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament finalists Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay. He also calls out Kenny Omega and brags about beating him twice, and Don Callis reveals that Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, Jake Doyle, Kazuchika Okada, and Andrade El Idolo will be joining MJF at Forbidden Door in the Twelve Man Steel Cage Match. Andrade is taken aback by the revelation he's joining MJF, but Callis reassures Andrade that he's a future AEW World Champion before demanding that he take part in the Forbidden Door Steel Cage Match.

Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Taz then greet audiences at home as The Premier Athletes make their way to the ring. Kenny Omega follows.

Kenny Omega vs. Tony Nese (w/ The Premier Athletes)

The bell rings and Omega delivers a Snap Dragon suplex to Nese. Mark Sterling hops up on the apron, but Omega knocks him off with a knee strike and delivers a One Winged Angel on Nese for the win.

Winner: Kenny Omega

After the match, Omega looks to speak but The Mighty Don't Kneel's music cuts him off and Zack Sabre Jr. appears with Mikey Nichols and Bad Dude Tito. The Young Bucks and Jack Perry run out to the entrance ramp to back up Omega, and Omega tells Sabre Jr. that he didn't think he would come all this way to challenge him to a match at Forbidden Door. He says himself and Sabre Jr. have something that the other wants, then says it would look nice for Sabre Jr. to have a win against him on his resume. He says it would also look good for him to beat Sabre Jr., then says while Sabre Jr. has his fair share of friends, so does he.

The Death Riders then make their way to the ring. Brody King and Bandido follow.

Jon Moxley and Daniel Garcia (w/ Marina Shafir) vs. Brody King and Bandido

King looks to fly to level Moxley and Garcia on the outside, but Shafir blocks his path and the pair get into a bark off with one another. This opens the door for Moxley to fly out of the ring and level King on the outside, then spike him with a piledriver and pull Bandido off the ring apron. He sites Bandido on one of the barricades, and Garcia sends him crashing over it with a chop.King is checked on by the ringside doctor, but Moxley dumps him back in the ring and tags out to Garcia. King fires off a few chops on Garcia, but Moxley tags back in.

Back from another break, Bandido delivers a pair of tilt-a-whirl backbreakers to Garcia. He sets up for the 21 Plex, but Moxley intercepts Bandido with a forearm and tags out to Garcia. Shafir slides in the ring as Garcia distracts the referee, but Bandido delivers a delayed vertical suplex on her and connects with a Frog Splash on Garcia off the top rope. He goes for a pin, but Moxley breaks the fall.

King delivers a German suplex and a clothesline to Moxley, but Garcia looks to cinch in a Dragon Tamer on Bandido. Bandido counters into a roll up, but Garcia reverses the fall and Bandido kicks out. Bandido then lands a 21 Plex on Garcia and pins him for the win as King flies out of the ring with a suicide dive to take out Moxley on the outside.

Winners: Brody King and Bandido

We then head backstage, where Kyle Fletcher and Kazuchika Okada stand over Tomohiro Ishii after taking him out in order to prevent him from joining Mark Briscoe's Forbidden Door Twelve Man Steel Cage Match team.

Adam Copeland and Christian Cage Have A Challenge For The Dogs

The Dogs look to make their way to the ring and light a match backstage next to a hooded figure, but the person turns around to reveal himself as Adam Copeland. Christian Cage creeps out of the shadows and goes after David Finlay and Clark Connors with Copeland. The action spills into the ringside area as Cage and Copeland continue beating down Finlay and Connors, but Finlay and Connors retreat through the crowd.

Cage grabs a microphone and says most people are expecting him to say something unsavory about a family member. He says even he has standards and has never come across another tag team who's named after their mothers. Copeland adds that The Dogs have been on a winning streak in June beating The Gunn brothers and The Young Bucks, then says The Dogs are himself and Cage from thirty years ago. He says himself and Cage get that they're trying to make their names, but they're also the learning curves for The Dogs and recalls going up against The New Age Outlaws and the APA with Cage in their younger years. He says himself and Cage will use some of their old man strength, knowledge, and grumpiness to make sure that The Dogs will walk out of their house as broken little puppies.

We then head backstage, where Jon Moxley (flanked by Daniel Garcia and Marina Shafir) offers Bandido (flanked by Brody King) a shot at his AEW Continental Championship as Lexy Nair stands by.
