TNA Lockdown Results 8/23 - Five Titles On The Line, Lethal Lockdown Match & More

Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy will be putting their TNA World Tag Team Championship on the line as they defend against Ryan Nemeth and TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth in a Steel Cage Match. Both teams have encountered one another a handful of times over the last few weeks as they both claim to be the best brother tag team in professional wrestling history, with Nic retaining his TNA World Championship against Jeff Hardy on the August 13 episode of "TNA Thursday Night Impact" and Matt scoring a win against Ryan in singles competition in the opening match on the August 6 edition of "Thursday Night Impact".

Elayna Black looks to put an end to Xia Brookside's reign as Knockouts World Champion when she challenges her for the title in a Steel Cage Match. After Brookside retained her title against "WWE EVOLVE" star Wendy Choo on August 6, Black made her way to the ring to stare down Brookside after she had previously made it clear that she had her eye on the Knockouts World Championship. Black enlisted the help of a makeup artist the following week on August 13 to make Brookside look bad, subsequently leading to a brawl between both women that spilled into the ringside area during a Knockouts Television Championship Tournament semifinals match between M By Elegance and Indi Hartwell.

Cedric Alexander of The System will be putting his X-Division Championship on the line as he defends against Leon Slater in a Last Man Standing Steel Cage Match. Alexander previously dethroned Slater as X-Division Champion in a 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match on the May 14 episode of "Thursday Night Impact" to force him to tie up the record as the longest reigning X-Division Champion of all time rather than break it. The two men encountered one another on August 6 in a tense verbal altercation as Alexander sat down with TNA broadcaster Tom Hannifin and Slater crashed the interview. Alexander later agreed to tonight's match on the condition that Slater's previous reign as X-Division Champion be erased from history should Alexander emerge as the winner on August 13.

Jason Hotch will be making his first defense of the International Championship on TNA programming since becoming titleholder as he puts his title on the line against his former Order 4 stablemate Mustafa Ali in a Steel Cage match. Ali wanted Hotch to give up his shot at Ali's then International Championship on the July 23 episode of "Thursday Night Impact" when he was voted by the roster as Ali's next challenger, but Hotch refused to do so after some encouragement from his wife. Hotch dethroned Ali as International Champion the following week on the July 30 episode of "Thursday Night Impact" in the main event of the show with a little assistance from fellow Order 4 members John Skyler and Tasha Steelz.

DemonXBunny's Allie and a mystery tag team partner will be putting DemonXBunny's Knockouts World Tag Team Championship on the line against The Elegance Brand's Heather By Elegance and the aforementioned M By Elegance in a Steel Cage Match. Although Allie and her DemonXBunny tag team partner Rosemary previously dethroned The Elegance Brand as Knockouts World Tag Team Champions at TNA Slammiversary on June 28, Rosemary has been missing over the course of the past several weeks on TNA programming. This caused Allie to defend the Knockouts World Tag Team Championship against M and Heather on July 30 in a 2-On-1 Handicap Match by herself when Rosemary was still nowhere to be found, which she successfully did via disqualification when M and Heather's stablemates Mr. Elegance and The Personal Concierge got involved.

KC Navarro, Fabian Aichner, Jada Stone, and Ricky Sosa will be joining forces with one another to face The System's Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers, Alisha Edwards, and Bear Bronson in a Lethal Lockdown Match. With The System having tried to recruit Sosa on the July 2 episode of "Thursday Night Impact" to no avail, Aichner and Navarro have forged something of an alliance with Sosa, the aforementioned Slater, and one another over the past several weeks in an effort to take down The System. Stone and Alisha also encountered one another on August 6 when the latter interrupted a meeting between Harley Hudson and TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella over Hudson's contract issues caused by TNA Director of Operations Daria Rae. When Alisha took issue with not being the center of attention, Stone appeared to come to Hudson's defense.

Similar to the rules of a WWE WarGames Match, a single cage surrounds the ring in a Lethal Lockdown Match as two competitors start the action and their teammates join them inside the cage at alternating intervals (which will begin with The System tonight after Myers defeated Aicher in a Lethal Lockdown Advantage Match this past Thursday on "Thursday Night Impact"). Once everyone is inside, the cage will lower down littered with weapons and a victory is attained via pinfall or tap out to a submission hold.

Moose will be going head-to-head with Frankie Kazarian in an Escape The Cage Match, while longtime rivals Elijah and A.J. Francis will be squaring off against one another in a Steel Cage Match. All four men have crossed paths with one another in the ring over the last several months, with Francis and Kazarian having scored wins against Elijah and The Home Town Man at TNA Sacrifice on March 27 and Elijah and Moose on July 23. Elijah also holds a victory against Francis in singles competition from TNA Slammiversary on June 28 in a match that would've seen him lose all copyrighted things related to him if he had not been the winner.

Additionally, The Righteous' Vincent and Dutch will be colliding with Rich Swann and BDE while Trey Miguel faces Special Agent 0. Both matches will be taking place on the Countdown to Lockdown pre-show beginning at 5 PM ET.

We are live on the Countdown to Lockdown pre-show! Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt greet audiences at home as the Righteous make their way to the ring. Rich Swann and BDE follow.

Vincent and Swann begin the action. The bell rings and Vincent sends Swann crashing into the corner. He levels Swann with a pair of clotheslines, but Swann takes down Vincent with a clothesline and tags out to BDE. BDE and Swann double team on Vincent, and BDE then delivers a shotgun dropkick to Vincent.

Dutch tags in and BDE looks to fly off the ropes, but Dutch intercepts him with a clothesline and rains down right hands on him. Vincent tags back in, and Dutch sends BDE crashing into the mat face first. Vincent follows it up with a low flatliner and pins BDE, but BDE kicks out and Dutch tags in.

Vincent and Dutch double teams on BDE, landing a senton-leg drop combination on him. Dutch pins BDE, but BDE kicks out and Dutch wears him down with a submission hold. Swann tags back in and delivers a Frog Splash to Vincent off the top rope, then looks to double team him with BDE. Dutch comes to Vincent's aid and lands a powerslam on him before BDE tags back in and lands a rolling codebreaker on Vincent. He follows it up with a springboard cutter and goes for a pin, but Vincent kicks out.

BDE ascends to the top rope, but Dutch pushes him off. This opens the door for Vincent and Dutch to surround BDE in the ring as the referee checks on Swann. The Righteous then land an assisted Tornado DDT on BDE and Vincent pins him for the win.

Special Agent 0 then makes his way to the ring. Trey Miguel follows. 

The bell rings and Miguel ascends to the top rope. He looks to fly, but Agent 0 catches him and Miguel manages to send him crashing out of the ring over the top rope. He looks to fly, but Agent 0 knocks him onto the floor and dumps him back inside.

Agent 0 delivers a suplex to Miguel, but Miguel fires off right hands on Agent 0. Agent 0 responds with a forearm that sends Miguel crashing into the mat, then lands another suplex on Miguel. Miguel fires off a couple of strikes on Agent 0, but Agent 0 delivers a swinging flatliner to Miguel and pins him.

Miguel kicks out, then catches Agent 0 with a back elbow out of the corner and a meteora off the top rope. He fires off chops and forearms on Agent 0, but Agent 0 looks to level Miguel with a chop of his own. Miguel avoids it and sends Agent 0 crashing back out of the ring, then delivers a Swanton Bomb over the top rope to take out Agent 0 on the floor.

Miguel delivers a trio of superkicks to Agent 0 back inside the ring, but Agent 0 sends Miguel crashing into the top rope face first and looks to send him crashing into the mat. Miguel then catches Agent 0 with a roll-up for the win.

Winner: Trey Miguel

We are live on the main show! The show kicks off with a video recapping some of the events leading up to various matches on the Lockdown card.

Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt then greet audiences at home as A.J. Francis makes his way to the ring. Elijah follows.

The bell rings and Francis runs over Elijah with a knee strike. He goes for a pin, but Elijah kicks out and levels Francis with a clothesline. Elijah then ascends to the top rope and walks it to land an Old School on Francis. He follows it up with a Stunner and goes for a pin, but Francis kicks out.

Francis whips Elijah into the corner spine first, but Elijah ascends up the ropes looking to land a crossbody on Francis. Francis catches him and sends him crashing into the side of the cage, then jams his face into it and ends up on the top rope with Elijah.

Elijah escapes and pulls Francis off the top rope with a powerbomb, then delivers an elbow drop to Francis off the top rope and pins him. Francis kicks out, but Elijah ascends to the top of the cage as Francis is standing on the top rope. Elijah talks along the top of the cage, but Francis joins Elijah on the top of the cage. Elijah pulls Francis off the top of the cage with a superplex and pins him, but Francis kicks out.

Expressions is rolled out to the ring in a wheelchair with a blanket and cash in hand. Francis sets up for the TFL, but Elijah avoids it and sets up for the Drifter Destroyer. Francis pulls Elijah off to get him up on his shoulders and lands the Cash Out on him, then goes for a pin but Elijah kicks out.

Expressions stands up on the outside and stomps on his neck brace, showing that he's healthy as a means of distracting Elijah. Francis calls for the Down Payment, but Elijah grabs onto the side of the cage to avoid it and delivers a Canadian Destroyer off the top rope. He goes for a pin, but Expressions sneaks into the cage to break the fall.

Elijah sends Expressions crashing into the side of the cage face first and lands the Highwayman's Farewell on him, but Francis delivers a moonsault to Elijah's spine and follows it up with a Down Payment for the win.

Winner: A.J. Francis

After the match, The Home Town Man slides Elijah his acoustic guitar as Francis is busy celebrating his win. Elijah ascends to the top rope and flies to crack the guitar across Francis' head.
