TNA Lockdown Results 8/23 - Five Titles On The Line, Lethal Lockdown Match & More

Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy will be putting their TNA World Tag Team Championship on the line as they defend against Ryan Nemeth and TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth in a Steel Cage Match. Both teams have encountered one another a handful of times over the last few weeks as they both claim to be the best brother tag team in professional wrestling history, with Nic retaining his TNA World Championship against Jeff Hardy on the August 13 episode of "TNA Thursday Night Impact" and Matt scoring a win against Ryan in singles competition in the opening match on the August 6 edition of "Thursday Night Impact".

Elayna Black looks to put an end to Xia Brookside's reign as Knockouts World Champion when she challenges her for the title in a Steel Cage Match. After Brookside retained her title against "WWE EVOLVE" star Wendy Choo on August 6, Black made her way to the ring to stare down Brookside after she had previously made it clear that she had her eye on the Knockouts World Championship. Black enlisted the help of a makeup artist the following week on August 13 to make Brookside look bad, subsequently leading to a brawl between both women that spilled into the ringside area during a Knockouts Television Championship Tournament semifinals match between M By Elegance and Indi Hartwell.

Cedric Alexander of The System will be putting his X-Division Championship on the line as he defends against Leon Slater in a Last Man Standing Steel Cage Match. Alexander previously dethroned Slater as X-Division Champion in a 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match on the May 14 episode of "Thursday Night Impact" to force him to tie up the record as the longest reigning X-Division Champion of all time rather than break it. The two men encountered one another on August 6 in a tense verbal altercation as Alexander sat down with TNA broadcaster Tom Hannifin and Slater crashed the interview. Alexander later agreed to tonight's match on the condition that Slater's previous reign as X-Division Champion be erased from history should Alexander emerge as the winner on August 13.

Jason Hotch will be making his first defense of the International Championship on TNA programming since becoming titleholder as he puts his title on the line against his former Order 4 stablemate Mustafa Ali in a Steel Cage match. Ali wanted Hotch to give up his shot at Ali's then International Championship on the July 23 episode of "Thursday Night Impact" when he was voted by the roster as Ali's next challenger, but Hotch refused to do so after some encouragement from his wife. Hotch dethroned Ali as International Champion the following week on the July 30 episode of "Thursday Night Impact" in the main event of the show with a little assistance from fellow Order 4 members John Skyler and Tasha Steelz.

DemonXBunny's Allie and a mystery tag team partner will be putting DemonXBunny's Knockouts World Tag Team Championship on the line against The Elegance Brand's Heather By Elegance and the aforementioned M By Elegance in a Steel Cage Match. Although Allie and her DemonXBunny tag team partner Rosemary previously dethroned The Elegance Brand as Knockouts World Tag Team Champions at TNA Slammiversary on June 28, Rosemary has been missing over the course of the past several weeks on TNA programming. This caused Allie to defend the Knockouts World Tag Team Championship against M and Heather on July 30 in a 2-On-1 Handicap Match by herself when Rosemary was still nowhere to be found, which she successfully did via disqualification when M and Heather's stablemates Mr. Elegance and The Personal Concierge got involved.

KC Navarro, Fabian Aichner, Jada Stone, and Ricky Sosa will be joining forces with one another to face The System's Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers, Alisha Edwards, and Bear Bronson in a Lethal Lockdown Match. With The System having tried to recruit Sosa on the July 2 episode of "Thursday Night Impact" to no avail, Aichner and Navarro have forged something of an alliance with Sosa, the aforementioned Slater, and one another over the past several weeks in an effort to take down The System. Stone and Alisha also encountered one another on August 6 when the latter interrupted a meeting between Harley Hudson and TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella over Hudson's contract issues caused by TNA Director of Operations Daria Rae. When Alisha took issue with not being the center of attention, Stone appeared to come to Hudson's defense.

Similar to the rules of a WWE WarGames Match, a single cage surrounds the ring in a Lethal Lockdown Match as two competitors start the action and their teammates join them inside the cage at alternating intervals (which will begin with The System tonight after Myers defeated Aicher in a Lethal Lockdown Advantage Match this past Thursday on "Thursday Night Impact"). Once everyone is inside, the cage will lower down littered with weapons and a victory is attained via pinfall or tap out to a submission hold.

Moose will be going head-to-head with Frankie Kazarian in an Escape The Cage Match, while longtime rivals Elijah and A.J. Francis will be squaring off against one another in a Steel Cage Match. All four men have crossed paths with one another in the ring over the last several months, with Francis and Kazarian having scored wins against Elijah and The Home Town Man at TNA Sacrifice on March 27 and Elijah and Moose on July 23. Elijah also holds a victory against Francis in singles competition from TNA Slammiversary on June 28 in a match that would've seen him lose all copyrighted things related to him if he had not been the winner.

Additionally, The Righteous' Vincent and Dutch will be colliding with Rich Swann and BDE while Trey Miguel faces Special Agent 0. Both matches will be taking place on the Countdown to Lockdown pre-show beginning at 5 PM ET.

We are live on the Countdown to Lockdown pre-show! Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt greet audiences at home as the Righteous make their way to the ring. Rich Swann and BDE follow.

Vincent and Swann begin the action. The bell rings and Vincent sends Swann crashing into the corner. He levels Swann with a pair of clotheslines, but Swann takes down Vincent with a clothesline and tags out to BDE. BDE and Swann double team on Vincent, and BDE then delivers a shotgun dropkick to Vincent.

Dutch tags in and BDE looks to fly off the ropes, but Dutch intercepts him with a clothesline and rains down right hands on him. Vincent tags back in, and Dutch sends BDE crashing into the mat face first. Vincent follows it up with a low flatliner and pins BDE, but BDE kicks out and Dutch tags in.

Vincent and Dutch double teams on BDE, landing a senton-leg drop combination on him. Dutch pins BDE, but BDE kicks out and Dutch wears him down with a submission hold. Swann tags back in and delivers a Frog Splash to Vincent off the top rope, then looks to double team him with BDE. Dutch comes to Vincent's aid and lands a powerslam on him before BDE tags back in and lands a rolling codebreaker on Vincent. He follows it up with a springboard cutter and goes for a pin, but Vincent kicks out.

BDE ascends to the top rope, but Dutch pushes him off. This opens the door for Vincent and Dutch to surround BDE in the ring as the referee checks on Swann. The Righteous then land an assisted Tornado DDT on BDE and Vincent pins him for the win.

Winners: The Righteous

Special Agent 0 then makes his way to the ring. Trey Miguel follows. 

The bell rings and Miguel ascends to the top rope. He looks to fly, but Agent 0 catches him and Miguel manages to send him crashing out of the ring over the top rope. He looks to fly, but Agent 0 knocks him onto the floor and dumps him back inside.

Agent 0 delivers a suplex to Miguel, but Miguel fires off right hands on Agent 0. Agent 0 responds with a forearm that sends Miguel crashing into the mat, then lands another suplex on Miguel. Miguel fires off a couple of strikes on Agent 0, but Agent 0 delivers a swinging flatliner to Miguel and pins him.

Miguel kicks out, then catches Agent 0 with a back elbow out of the corner and a meteora off the top rope. He fires off chops and forearms on Agent 0, but Agent 0 looks to level Miguel with a chop of his own. Miguel avoids it and sends Agent 0 crashing back out of the ring, then delivers a Swanton Bomb over the top rope to take out Agent 0 on the floor.

Miguel delivers a trio of superkicks to Agent 0 back inside the ring, but Agent 0 sends Miguel crashing into the top rope face first and looks to send him crashing into the mat. Miguel then catches Agent 0 with a roll-up for the win.

Winner: Trey Miguel

We are live on the main show! The show kicks off with a video recapping some of the events leading up to various matches on the Lockdown card.

Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt then greet audiences at home as A.J. Francis makes his way to the ring. Elijah follows.

The bell rings and Francis runs over Elijah with a knee strike. He goes for a pin, but Elijah kicks out and levels Francis with a clothesline. Elijah then ascends to the top rope and walks it to land an Old School on Francis. He follows it up with a Stunner and goes for a pin, but Francis kicks out.

Francis whips Elijah into the corner spine first, but Elijah ascends up the ropes looking to land a crossbody on Francis. Francis catches him and sends him crashing into the side of the cage, then jams his face into it and ends up on the top rope with Elijah.

Elijah escapes and pulls Francis off the top rope with a powerbomb, then delivers an elbow drop to Francis off the top rope and pins him. Francis kicks out, but Elijah ascends to the top of the cage as Francis is standing on the top rope. Elijah talks along the top of the cage, but Francis joins Elijah on the top of the cage. Elijah pulls Francis off the top of the cage with a superplex and pins him, but Francis kicks out.

Expressions is rolled out to the ring in a wheelchair with a blanket and cash in hand. Francis sets up for the TFL, but Elijah avoids it and sets up for the Drifter Destroyer. Francis pulls Elijah off to get him up on his shoulders and lands the Cash Out on him, then goes for a pin but Elijah kicks out.

Expressions stands up on the outside and stomps on his neck brace, showing that he's healthy as a means of distracting Elijah. Francis calls for the Down Payment, but Elijah grabs onto the side of the cage to avoid it and delivers a Canadian Destroyer off the top rope. He goes for a pin, but Expressions sneaks into the cage to break the fall.

Elijah sends Expressions crashing into the side of the cage face first and lands the Highwayman's Farewell on him, but Francis delivers a moonsault to Elijah's spine and follows it up with a Down Payment for the win.

Winner: A.J. Francis

After the match, The Home Town Man slides Elijah his acoustic guitar as Francis is busy celebrating his win. Elijah ascends to the top rope and flies to crack the guitar across Francis' head.

The Elegance Brand then make their way to the ring. Allie and her mystery tag team partner Kiera Hogan follow. 

M By Elegance and Allie begin the action. The bell rings and Allie fires off right hands on M. She delivers a Thesz Press to M and lands a knee strike on the side of her head, but Heather By Elegance and Hogan tag in, and Hogan goes after Heather. Allie tags in and double teams on Heather, but the referee spots Mr. Elegance scaling the cage. This opens the door for Heather to hit Allie with her with a night stick and rain down right hands on her.

M tags in and delivers a shotgun dropkick to Allie, then wears her down with a submission hold and delivers a pump kick to her. Heather tags back in and fires off forearms on Allie in the corner, then wears her down with a submission hold and tags out to Hogan.

M tags in and Hogan lands a shotgun dropkick on Heather in the corner. She lands a Hip Attack on her and lands a drop toe hold to send M crashing into the middle rope, then lands another Hip Attack on her and follows it up with a step-up leg drop.

M and Hogan level one another, but The Personal Concierge grabs two pairs of handcuffs from the timekeeper's area. Heather manages to shimmy through the cage and grabs the two pairs of handcuffs, then uses one of the pairs to cuff Allie to the side of the cage leaving Hogan alone.

Hogan fires off strikes on M and delivers a kick to the side of her head, then connects with a swinging neckbreaker on M for the win.

Winners (and still): Kiera Hogan and Allie

Moose then makes his way to the ring. Frankie Kazarian follows.

The bell rings and Kazarian immediately tries to escape the cage. Moose stops him and rains down right hands on Kazarian in the corner, then lands a crossbody on Kazarian out of the corner and delivers a spear to him. Moose calls for the referee to open the door, but Kazarian flips off Moose as Moose looks to leave.

Moose opts to stay inside the cage instead of leaving it to win the match, but Kazarian sends Moose crashing into the side of the cage and jams his boot into Moose in the corner of the ring. He sends Moose crashing into the turnbuckle shoulder first and lands a suplex on him, then sends him crashing into the mat face first with an Angel's Wing's and mockingly shoves the side of Moose's face.

Moose rocks Kazarian with a headbutt and fires off an uppercut on him in the corner, then lands a chokeslam and a backstabber on him. He follows it up with a leg drop off the middle rope as Moose is draped off the middle rope by his knees, then looks to cinch in a Chicken Wing on him.

Moose escapes and exchanges strikes with Kazarian, but the two men end up near the top of the cage and Moose lands a Spanish Fly on him off the top and into the ring. Moose looks to exit the cage, but Kazarian grabs onto his ankle to stop him.

Kazarian rakes Moose's eye with his thumb, but Moose looks to respond with a spear. Kazarian reverses into a cutter, but Moose delivers a spear to Kazarian through the middle rope. In the process, Moose sends Kazarian into the cage door to swing it open and Kazarian lands on the outside of the ring to win the match.

Winner: Frankie Kazarian

Elayna Black then makes her way to the ring. Xia Brookside follows.

The bell rings and Black sends Brookside crashing into the mat face first. Brookside shoves Black, but Black levels Brookside with a strike and sends Brookside's face bouncing off her knee. She follows it up with a hurricanrana to her and delivers a pair of step-up knees to her in the corner, but Brookside delivers a single leg dropkick to Black to send her crashing into the side of the cage.

We see Indi Hartwell watching the action from backstage as Brookside grabs a leather belt. She rains down right hands on Black and jams the buckle of the leather belt to jam it into her head. Brookside then wraps the belt around her hand and chokes Black out with it using the middle rope for leverage before trapping her in the cage using the leather belt and delivering a single leg dropkick to her.

Brookside fires off stomps on Black's spine, but Black levels Brookside with a pair of clotheslines and follows it up with a step-up knee to her in the corner. She delivers a suplex to Brookside and goes for a pin, but Black kicks out. Brookside then catches Black with the Darkside DDT and pins her, but Black kicks out.

Black connects with Blackout and pins Brookside, but Brookside kicks out and looks to throw powder into Black's eye. Black sees Brookside coming, but Brookside manages to throw the powder into Black's eyes and rolls her up for the win.

Winner (and still): Xia Brookside

Order 4 then makes their way to the ring. Jason Hotch follows. 

The bell rings and Ali delivers a chop to Hotch. Hotch traps Ali in the slats of the cage and fires off superkicks on Ali's face, then lands a suplex on Ali off the top rope and follows it up with a discus clothesline. Hotch sends Ali into the side of the cage and uses it to land a Tornado DDT on Ali, then goes for another pin but Ali kicks out.

Ali sits Hotch on the top rope and joins him up there, but Hotch delivers a piledriver to Ali and follows it up with a sit-out powerbomb. He goes for a pin, but Ali kicks out and delivers a Tornado DDT to Hotch using the side of the cage for assistance.

Special Agent 0 grabs the key to the cage and unlocks it, but Tasha Steelz closes the cage door to keep Ali inside and levels Mila Moore with a forearm when Moore goes after her. Hotch then looks to land a boot on Ali, but accidentally sends Steelz crashing off the ring apron.

A concerned Hotch checks on Steelz, and John Skyler carries her to the back. Ali blindsides Hotch with a dive through the middle rope, but Hotch lays Ali on the timekeeper's table and ascends to the top of the cage. Ali joins Hotch in scaling the cage, but Hotch hits Ali's hands with his own to send him crashing off the side of the cage and onto the floor.

Hotch delivers a crossbody off the top of the cage to send Ali crashing through the timekeeper's table, but medical officials help Hotch to the back when he begins bleeding from his mouth. Ali laughs and gets into Hotch's wife and daughter's face, then steals the toy that Hotch's daughter is holding and shakes it in front of Hotch's face as a taunt.

Ali stomps on Hotch's daughter's toy inside the ring, and Moore hands him a lighter. He sets the toy on fire, but Hotch runs back into the cage and rains down right hands on Ali. He takes Hotch's belt and lashes him with it across his midsection, but Hotch lands a double stomp on Ali off the top rope and pins him.

Ali kicks out, but Hotch spots his daughter's toy. Ali blindsides him with a spear, then follows it up with a 450 Splash and goes for a pin. Hotch kicks out, but Ali fires off stomps on him as Hotch grips onto the toy. Ali then delivers a second 450 Splash to Hotch off the top rope and pins him for the win.

Winner (and new): Mustafa Ali

Gia Miller introduces Avery Styles, and he makes his way out. Miller says Avery has something to share with the TNA fans, and Avery says the fans know that his father AJ Styles wouldn't be who he was without TNA Wrestling and says the same will go for him. He announces that he's officially signed with TNA, but Frankie Kazarian's music hits and he makes his way out. Kazarian says that AJ is like his brother, then says himself, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, and AJ poured their hearts into making TNA what it is today. He says a lot of guys in the back will want to take out Avery for his name, but not him. 

Leon Slater then makes his way to the ring. Cedric Alexander follows. 

The bell rings and Slater and Alexander exchange right hands with one another. Slater rains down right hands on Alexander in the corner of the ring, but Alexander catches Slater with a powerbomb and delivers a chop to him. Slater catches Alexander with a kick to his head and flies off near the top of the cage to deliver a clothesline to him, but Slater levels Alexander with a superkick.

Alexander sends Slater crashing into the side of the cage face first, but Slater sends him crashing into the mat before he rains down right hands on Alexander and sends his face bouncing off the side of the cage. He then gets Alexander up on his shoulders and lands an Airplane Spin on him, then sets up for a 450 Splash on him. Slater moves out of the way, but Alexander delivers a twisting superplex to Slater off the top rope.

Alexander and Slater are both down as the referee begins a ten count, but both men beat it and Slater catches Alexander with a trio of Lumbar Checks. He ascends to the top rope and delivers a Swanton Bomb-450 Splash combination to Alexander. The referee begins a ten count as Slater makes it to his feet, but Alexander can't make it up in time.

Winner (and new): Leon Slater

We then head backstage, where TNA Director of Operations Daria Rae tells someone on the phone that she'll see them this Thursday. A crew member grabs her, and she finds that Elijah has been attacked backstage. 

Back at ringside, Bear Bronson makes his way out. Fabian Aichner follows.

The bell rings and Bronson exchanges right hands with Aichner. Aichner rains down right hands on Bronson, then sends him crashing into the mat off his shoulders and lands a moonsault on Bronson off the ropes.

Brian Myers is the next entrant in the match, and he fires off stomps on Aichner as Bronson fires off stomps on him as well. Myers whips Aichner into the corner spine first, but Navarro is next up in the match. Navarro trips up Bronson to send him crashing into the side of the cage head first and delivers a Tornado DDT to Myers, but Eddie Edwards enters the cage next. Navarro intercepts him with a dive through the middle rope on the bottom of the entrance ramp, but Navarro is sent crashing into the side of the cage.

Ricky Sosa is next in the match, and he delivers a dropkick to Myers. He fires off right hands on Bronson and Eddie, then lands a double stomp on Eddie's chest and catches Bronson with a cutter. He delivers a scoop powerslam to Myers, but Alisha Edwards enters the cage as the final member of her team and gets in Sosa's face. Sosa is levelled, giving The System the upperhand. Jada Stone's music hits and she enters the cage last. She takes out Bronson on the outside and flies off the top of the cage to level The System (minus Alisha) on the inside.

The roof of the cage lowers littered with weapons as Bronson slides a barbed wire board into the ring. Everyone begins brawling with one another, but Navarro, Stone, Aichner, and Sosa all grab weapons. Navarro jams a bat wrapped in barbed wire into Myers' head as Stone cracks a kendo stick across Bronson's spine.

Navarro lands a splash on Eddie off the top rope, and Sosa cracks a chair across Myers' spine. Stone cracks a kendo stick across Alisha's spine, then dumps out a bag of thumb tacks. Alisha and Stone end up on the top rope, and Stone delivers a superplex to Alisha off the top rope. Aichner low blows Eddie as he checks on Alisha, then cracks a trash can across Eddie's head and lays it on him. He delivers a Coast-to-Coast to Eddie off the top rope, but Bronson jams the bat wrapped in barbed wire on Aichner's midsection.

Bronson lands a double Bear Down on Aichner and Navarro, but Sosa sends Bronson crashing through the barbed wire board set up in the corner. Sosa then delivers a Blue Thunder Bomb to Myers to send him crashing into the thumb tacks and grabs a spool of barbed wire. He slides the barbed wire onto his arm and hits an uppercut on it using the barbed wire, then goes for a pin but Alisha breaks the fall. Eddie blindsides Sosa with a Boston Knee Party, then delivers a piledriver to Sosa on top of the chairs for the win.

Winners: The System

The Nemeths then make their way to the ring. The Hardys follow. 

The bell rings and The Hardys take the fight to The Nemeths. Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy send Nic Nemeth and Ryan Nemeth crashing into opposite sides of the cage twice, and Jeff uses Matt's spine as a launch pad to deliver a splash to Nic in the corner.

Nic lands Danger Zone on Jeff and Ryan pins him, but Jeff kicks out. Matt catches Ryan with a Side Effect, and Jeff delivers a Twist of Fate on Nic. Matt fires off right hands and left hands on Nic as Jeff wears down Ryan, and Jeff jams Nic's head through one of the slats of the cage. Matt lands The Three Faces of Deletion on Ryan, then connects with a Side Effect on Nic. Jeff follows it up with a Frog Splash off the top rope and pins Nic, but Ryan breaks the fall.

Matt and Jeff set up a table in the corner of the ring, and Jeff lays Nic on it as he rains down right hands on him. Ryan lands a low blow on Matt, but Jeff goes after him. Ryan spikes Jeff with a DDT and pins him, but Matt breaks the fall and delivers a Side Effect to Nic. Ryan pounces on Matt, but Matt lands a Twist of Fate on him and lays him on the table in the corner of the ring. Jeff ascends up to the top of the cage, but Nic pulls Ryan off the table and pulls Jeff off the top of the cage.

Nic and Jeff are both sent crashing into the top rope groin first, and Matt lands another Twist of Fate on Ryan. Matt scales up the cage to deliver an elbow drop to Ryan which sends him crashing through the table in the corner. Nic then intercepts Matt with a Danger Zone to pin him for the win.

Winners (and new): Nic Nemeth and Ryan Nemeth

After the match, Nic and Ryan each pop open a bottle of champagne in celebration. Leon Slater's music hits and he makes his way out, informing Nic he's opted to exercise Option C and trade in his X-Division Championship for a TNA World Championship match at TNA Bound for Glory in October. Slater hands over his X-Division to TNA President Carlos Silva, but Nic tries to attack Slater. Slater quickly takes out Nic and stands tall over him as the show goes off the air.
