AEW Collision Results 8/22 - Women's World Title Match, Continental Cup Continues

The Continental Challenge Cup quarterfinals continue tonight with two matches. Yesterday, Tony Khan announced that Eddie Kingston wasn't medically cleared to compete tonight. Daniel Garcia won a play-in match against Adam Priest at Death Before Dishonor. Tonight, he'll face fellow Death Rider, Claudio Castagnoli. Friends and Conglomeration members, Orange Cassidy and Kyle O'Reilly will face off.

Before winning the Women's Championship, Willow Nightingale promised Maya World a title shot after she won. She's making good on that promise tonight.

Cassidy comes to the ring first. O'Reilly follows.

Cassidy put his glasses on O'Reilly. KOR put him in a side headlock and Cassidy did the same. KOR put him in a headscissors. Cassidy did a headstand to get out of it and then he put him in a side headlock twice. They dodged each other's moves before Cassidy did a side headlock and did one through the ropes. O'Reilly with a back suplex. Cassidy rolled him up. O'Reilly worked his arm until Cassidy put him in a waistlock. O'Reilly put him in one and he put his hands in his pockets to shimmy out. KOR with another side headlock.

Cassidy took him down with his hands in his pockets and he kicked O'Reilly to the outside. Cassidy faked him out before sitting on the ropes to open them for KOR, so KOR climbed up the ringpost to get in. O'Reilly dragonscrewed his leg. He went for a running kick, but Cassidy moved. He opened the ropes for Cassidy, who rolled under the ropes. KOR with a snap suplex and Cassidy did one of his own. They each did one more.

After the break, O'Reilly suplexed Cassidy and Cassidy responded with his own. O'Reilly landed another after Cassidy tried to fight him off. Cassidy charged at him and KOR landed another suplex. Cassidy landed one. They hit hands in the middle of the ring before Cassidy landed forearms and KOR landed kicks. KOR grabbed his leg, but Cassidy slapped him in the neck. He followed with thrust kicks. KOR sent him down with a kick and Cassidy immediately got up. KOR with multiple strikes, He blocked Slumdog Millionaire with an armbar. He went for an ankle lock, but Cassidy blocked it. Cassidy kicked him in the legs repeatedly. He put Cassidy in a standing choke. Cassidy responded with a falcon arrow and a tilt o whirl DDT.

Cassidy went up top and KOR ducked and rolled him up. He followed with a leg sweep. Cassidy dodged the PK and KOR dodged the Beach Break. Cassidy went for another Beach Break. Cassidy blocked an ankle lock, but O'Reilly was able to cinch it in. KOR went for a stomp, but didn't. They exchanged roll up attempts, but O'Reilly locked in an ankle lock for the win.

Divine Dominion comes to the ring, where their opponents are waiting.

Erica and Tiara charged Megan before the bell rang. She double suplexed them and tagged in Lena. They splashed them in the corners and landed double clotheslines. Lena sent Erica to the outside. Lena and Megan mocked the Birds and then landed Two Birds, One Stone. Before the three count, Bayne pulled Tiara up. They both held Tiara up and slammed her to the mat. The match lasted 1:34.

Garcia comes to the ring. Castagnoli follows.

Garcia locks his fingers and Claudio backs him into the corner. Claudio took him to the mat and tried to get him in an ankle lock. Claudio put him in a submission, but Garcia got to the ropes. Garcia shoved him several times and did a backside and a roll up attempt. Garcia with an uppercut and a chop. He followed with a dragonscrew. Claudio sat in a chair and Garcia landed multiple forearms. He landed a running dropkick. Claudo landed a running uppercut and sent him over the barricade into the fans.

After the break, Claudio shoulder tackled him in the corner repeatedly. He chopped Garcia. Garcia bowed up, but Claudio landed a vicious uppercut. Garcia bowed up again and got hit with multiple uppercuts. He bowed up again and got pummeled in the corner. He bowed up once again and danced at him. When Claudio charged, he rolled him up. In the corner, he landed 10 punches. Claudio threw him and Garcia's ankle buckled. Garcia out him in the Dragontamer. Claudio pulled him by the neck. Garcia put him in The Octopus. He then moved into the sleeper.

Claudio rammed him into the corner twice and Garcia wouldn't let go. Claudio pulled his arms and moved him into the Giant Swing. Garcia with a backslide and a Busaiku Knee. Garcia mocked Claudio, but Garcia pulled his leg out from under him. He followed with an uppercut. Garcia with another sleeper hold. Claudio sent him in the corner and wrapped his leg to kick it. He hit multiple supercuts. Garcia put him in another sleeper and Claudio went to a knee. Garcia locked him in and slammed him face first to the mat. Garcia tried to log in the Dragontamer. Claudio with an uppercut and pin attempt. He wrenched in a leg submission. Garcia spit on Claudio and flipped him off. Claudio took Garcia's boot off and put him in a one legged Giant Swing. He uppercut him against the rope and snapped him over to pin him, but Garcia kicked out. Garcia pulled himself up and landed a forearm. Claudio uppercut him, stomped his leg and did a deadlift slam. He locked in an ankle lock for the win.

Hurt Syndicate and Moriarty come to the ring, where their opponents were waiting.

Mako and Benjamin start us off. Benjamin with a back body drop and a suplex. He tagged Lashley in over Lee. They grabbed Nolan and O'Neill in the ring. They double teamed O'Neill. Shelton hit Nolan in the leg and sent him between the barricade and apron repeatedly, while STP were there. Lashley ran around the ring and speared Nolan. Lashley and Benjamin left. Lee sent Mako to the outside and landed a tope suicida. Back in the ring, Lee did a straight jacket into a Border City Stretch for the win.

Winner: Lee Moriarty & Hurt Syndicate

After the match, STP got in the ring. Shane said greatness looks like Lee running through the Pure division on his way to become the greatest Pure champion of all time. Shane says they're on the way to becoming the best Trios. They challenged any Trios team.

Austin and Carlie start us off. They exchanged holds. White tagged in and worked Carlie's arm and took him to the mat. He chopped Carlie and worked his arm. Colten tagged in and worked his arm too. Carlie sent him to their corner and STP punched him. Dean tagged in and they double teamed Colten. Dean did "suck it" motions. Colten leap frogged him. Austin took Dean down. He landed multiple jabs on Carlie. Shane sent him down with a lariat. Dean pummeled Austin in the ring.

After the break, Carlie and Dean double teamed Austin and then cut him off from his corner. Taylor hit him with a lariat. Dean did the BBC. Dean and Carlie sent him into the corner and Austin knocked Taylor off the apron. Colten tagged in and took down Dean and Carllie. He sent Taylor off the apron. He landed a dropkick on Carlie. He went for a FameAsser on Dean, but Taylor hit him with a lariat.

Taylor dragged Dean to the corner so he could tag in. Taylor picked Colten up and sent him to the corner. White tagged in and landed multiple chops. He ducked Taylor. Taylor sent him to the corner. White slugged him repeatedly. White tried pulling Taylor, but he couldn't'. Taylor with a back bodydrop. He forearmed White in the corner. He went for a splash, but White moved. Dean tagged in, who tagged in Carlie. White spun Dean into Carlie and corkscrewed Dean;s leg. Carlie faked White out and punched him in the face. White rolled out and Colten and Austin were getting in the ring. They double teamed Carlie. Taylor got in the ring. They sent Taylor in the corner and landed 3:10 to Yuma. White landed a Bladerunner on Carlie.

White said when one door chokes you out, another opens. He called out The Dogs for attacking them and said they don't need the help of BRODIDO and Page. He said they never really lost the Trios titles. White challenged all the Trios teams and said they're coming for the gold.

Wayne comes to the ring first. Ciampa follows. Kommander and Speedball follow.

Speedball and Ciampa start us off. They worked each other's arms. Ciampa took him down. Speedball with a waistlock against the ropes. Ciampa with a back elbow. Speedball landed rapid fire kicks. Wayne tagged in. He took Speedball down. Kommander tagged in and landed a crossbody. Ciampa pulled Kommander off and stomped Speedball. Speedball and Kommander landed stereo tijares takedowns and dropkicks. Ciampa and Wayne went to the floor and Speedball and Kommander landed stereo tope suicidas.

After the break, Kommander landed multiple strikes. He rolled up Wayne. Speedball tagged in and Wayne took him down with a dropkick and took down Ciampa. He kicked Wayne in the back and chest. He did a standing 450. Wayne dodged his kicks and suplexed him. Ciampa tagged in and rolled up Speedball. He took him down with a pump kick. Speedball with a back body drop and Ultima Weapon.

Wayne and Kommander tagged in. Wayne kicked him. Kommander ran across the ropes and then dodged Wayne before taking him down and splashed his back. Ciampa broke up the pin. Speedball with rapid fire kicks on Ciampa. Speedball moved and Wayne hit Ciampa. Speedball landed a moonsault on Ciampa on the outside. Kommander used the ropes for a Destroyer, but Wayne kicked out. Kommander went up top and Ciampa distracted him and jumped down. Wayne put his legs on the ropes while pinning Kommander, but he kicked out. Ciampa tried to unmask him. Speedball stopped him. Wayne landed the Prodigy Plex for the win.

After the match, Ciampa shoved Wayne down.

World comes to the ring first. Nightingale follows.

Willow backed her into the corner. They lock up again and Willow backed Maya to the ropes. Willow with a takeover. Maya put her in a waistlock, but Willow pulled her arms apart and put her in one. They do stand and switches before Willow planted her. She took her down with two shoulder tackles. Maya took her down with an armdrag. Maya hit her in the corner. Willow lands multiple forearms in the corner. Maya ducked a lariat and hit her in the face before rolling up Willow. Maya with a tijares. She landed a crossbody from the apron. Maya put her back in the ring and went up top. Willow ducked low and pounced her.

After the break, Willow did a cartwheel to dodge Maya and then took her down. Willow forearmed her in the corner and sent her to the other to do the same. She splashed her in the opposite corner. They exchanged blows. Maya landed multiple kicks and took her down with a shotgun dropkick off the ropes. Willows elbowed her in the back. Maya with a tijares takedown and an Area Code. Maya rolled her up. Willow with a spinebuster. Both women are down.

Willow got to her feet first and charged Maya. Willow landed a shotgun dropkick from up top. She followed with a cannonball and a pin attempt. Willow went up top, but Maya hit her and landed a takedown. Maya landed the Crucifix Bomb. They exchanged blows again. Maya landed multiple forearms, but Willow landed a discus lariat. Maya blocked Babe with Powerbomb and they both rolled each other up several times. Willow with a backslide roll up to retain.
