WWE NXT Results 8/25 - Weaponized Steel Cage Match, AAA Cruiserweight Title On The Line

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.'s live coverage of "WWE NXT," kicking off with a Weaponized Steel Cage match between Dion Lennox and Saquon Shugars. 

Shugars and Lennox will be fighting inside the cage weeks after the latter and DarkState excised the former from the faction. Lennox beat Shugars in singles action earlier this month and will be looking to get his win back, ultimately hoping to move on from his days with the group.

Elsewhere on the card, Rey Fenix will be defending his AAA Cruiserweight Championship against EK Prosper. Prosper earned number one contendership by winning a four-way during last week's show, beating La Parka, Romeo Moreno, and Tristan Angels. 

Fenix was in action on Monday's "WWE Raw," defeating Dragon Lee to confirm he will be facing his brother, Penta, at Sunday Night's Main Event to determine Roman Reigns' number one contender to the World Heavyweight title. 

Moreno will be teaming with Noam Dar, Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux to take on the four-some of Birthright: Lexis King, Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo, Uriah Connors, and Charlie Dempsey. And Kali Armstong will be challenging Zaria, with the added caveat that a win would make a three-way title match at Heatwave; Women's Speed Champion Wren Sinclair is scheduled to face Women's North American Champion Zaria in a title unification match as it stands. 

"NXT" is scheduled to start at 8PM ET on the CW Network for those watching the US. Those watching internationally can do so via Netflix.

Shugars gets into the cage and Lennox launches a trashcan at him to get the match started. Lennox batters Shugars with a steel chair and goes for the cover but only for the two-count. 

Lennox drives Shugars into the cage wall thrice, using his boot to push him up against the steel mesh. He strips the belt from Shugars and continues to beat him with it in the middle of the ring, going for another cover for another two-count. 

Lennox grabs a chair and wedges it between the cage wall and the top rope. He hoists Shugars up for a powerbomb onto the same chair having fallen to the mat, following up with a bodyslam for another cover and another near-fall. 

Lennox comes at Shugars with another trashcan but Shugars throws one back at him, putting it over Lennox's head and hitting it with the lid. He follows up with a missile dropkick to the can and Lennox and goes for the cover, only for a two-count. Now Shugars is battering Lennox with the steel chair across the back, setting two up opposite one another and looking to slam him onto them. 

They go back-and-forth but Lennox gets the better, putting one of the chairs upside down and dropping Shugars back-first onto the legs. 

Shugars fights back and sends Lennox into the cage wall three times, going to the top rope for a high crossbody. Lennox slaps a kendo stick against his mid-section to create space, wedging it in the corner and trying to send Shugars into it. Shugars reverses it and sends him into the kendo stick, dropping him onto a chair and going for a cover for another near-fall. 

Once again Shugars scales the ropes but Lennox hits him with a kendo stick to bring him back down, following up with a spinebuster through the trashcan. Lennox goes for the cover but Shugars kicks out before three. 

Lennox comes at Shugars with a steel chair but Shugars swats it away with his baseball bat, forcing Lennox to grab another chair and throw it as Shugars' knees. Lennox hangs Shugars up in a Tree of Woe and hits him with a chair, cinching in a modified cloverleaf with the bat between the legs. Shugars uses a trashcan lid to fight out of it but Lennox stomps him back down, pulling out a table and setting it up in the ring. 

Lennox moves himself and Shugars up to the top rope to put him through it, but Shugars fights out and goes for a sunset flip, favoring his knee as he lands hard. He puts Lennox onto the table instead, putting a trashcan over his head and delivering a superkick, causing the table to break prematurely. 

Shugars climbs to the top of the cage and delivers a crossbody to Lennox down in the ring, going for the cover and getting the winning pinfall.

Nattie is shown making her way through backstage, as well as Jaida Parker, with a face-to-face in the ring on the way. 

Tony D'Angelo addresses his upcoming four-way match with Zilla Fatu, Grayson Waller, and Cruz Montana. He reminds that he was the first to beat Oba Femi, considering he is now on "WWE Raw" fighting Bron Breakker to be the "Future of WWE," and says his opponents must have forgot who he is. 

Sarah Schreiber is shown at a bowling alley with Vanity Project, where they're talking up their chances at beating Tavion Heights and Myles Borne at Heatwave. 

Nattie talks up Parker and says she wanted to get in the ring with her because she has all the tools, but she sees wasted potential. She says that she was the one who exposed Parker, and since doing that Parker has gotten even better. 

Nattie says that Parker was a "possibility that I turned into a reality."

Parker comes out to address Nattie. She says since she came to "NXT" she's been trying to prove that Parker is soft and wasted potential, and she did question herself, but she has taken other losses and Nattie is not special, so she sees straight through her. She says that is not out of the goodness of Nattie's heart, and she just saw a talent on the come-up that she wanted to keep down. 

Parker says that Nattie should be thanking her because she came calling for someone who would put her back in the conversation, and that's what she did. Nattie challenges Parker to a submission match at Heatwave, which Parker has no issue accepting before declaring that she will tap her out and show her who she really is. 

The bell rings and they lock up, Carver immediately getting the better of Hendrix and going for an inside cradle. Hendrix kicks out and they lock up again. Carver drops Hendrix with a release suplex and a leaping tackle, but Hendrix sends him throat-first into the ropes. 

Hendrix follows up with some lariats and goes for a cover, only for the one-count. Hendrix continues to choke Carver against the ropes and cinches in a headlock in the middle of the ring. Carver fights back to his feet but Hendrix drops him again with a Showtime kick, again just for a one-count. 

Hendrix chops Carver across the back but it just infuriates him, returning fire with two suplexes and a pounce to send Hendrix out of the ring. The referee stops Carver from trying to get at him on the outside, allowing Hendrix to thumb him in the eye. But it also allows for Mason Rook to emerge and wipe Hendrix out with a crossbody. 

Carver follows that up with a Perfect-Plex, bridging into the cover and getting the three-count.

The bell rings and they go back-and-forth with shoulder tackles, Zaria dropping Armstrong first. Armstrong comes back with a scoop slam and calls for a test of strength, accepted by Zaria as they lock up. 

Zaria gets Armstrong down to the mat, forcing her to kip up only to get sent into the corner. Zaria follows up with a chop and a boot before slamming her across the ring, throwing her back into the corner and delivering a backdrop to send her back to the mat. 

Armstrong comes back with left jabs and drops Zaria with a right to send her out of the ring, heading to the top and taking her out on the outside. Armstrong smashes Zaria against the apron and throws her into the ring, burrowing elbows into her left shoulder before following up with a knee to the face. 

Armstrong drives Zaria into the corner and continues to work the mid-section with punches, launching her into the opposing corner and sending her rebounding off the buckles. Armstrong connects with two tackles into the buckles and slams her down to the mat, going for the cover but only for a two-count. 

Now Amstrong cinches in a headlock in the middle of the ring. Zaria fights back to her feet and the pair go back-and-forth with headlock attempts. Zaria breaks the exchange with a backdrop suplex, mounting her and pounding down with her right hand, following up with an elbow drop. 

Zaria goes to the top rope and gets Armstrong in a hanging headlock, but she fights out of it and they both start fighting on the ropes. Zaria headbutss her back down but Armstrong returns to hit a superplex. 

The pair begin throwing hands from a knelt position in the middle of the ring, gradually rising between strikes. Armstrong seems to be getting the better of the champion before she comes back with a headbutt, but Armstrong follows up with a powerbomb and goes for the cover. Zaria kicks out at two. 

Zaria uses her knee to drop Armstrong as she ran for a tackle, hitting a German suplex and going for the spear. Armstrong leaps over her and drops her with a bodyslam, running the ropes for the Kali Connection, but Zaria spears her out of it. 

Zaria looks for an F5 but Armstrong reverses it into a cover, getting the winning pinfall.

Dar and Dempsey start the match as the legal men, entering a grappling exchange. Dar backslides Dempsey but he rolls through, attempting his own cover but Dar kicks out before the count of two. 

Moreno tags in and takes out Dempsey, quickly tagging back out to Van Dux. Dempsey snatches the ankle and tags out to King so they can press the advantage. Van Dux switches momentum with an arm drag and tags out to Legacy, Lorenzo tags in for King. 

Lorenzo tags Connors into the affair but Legacy gets the better of him, tagging out to Moreno. Connors though gets the better of Moreno, landing a dropkick and taking some time to gloat. That allows Moreno to come back with a leaping kick and he cinches in an ankle lock. 

Legacy and Van Dux look to take flight but Arianna Grace gets up onto the apron to halt them, while Connors isolates Moreno on the opposite side of the ring so Birthright can each take turns wearing him down. 

Dempsey goes for two covers in quick order to no avail, following up with a gutwrench slam and tagging out to Lorenzo. Lorenzo goes for a cover but only for a two-count. He tags out to Connors as he continues to work Moreno in the corner, tagging out to Lorenzo once more. 

Lorenzo goes for another cover for another kick-out but follows up with a headlock. Moreno fights to his feet but Lorenzo uses a takeover to put him back down. Once more Moreno finds his feet, the crowd chanting him on as he reaches for the tag. Lorenzo uses a drop toehold to send him back to his corner, tagging out to Connors. 

Connors takes out Legacy on the apron, swiping at Van Dux who dodges it. Lorenzo and Connors continue to double team Moreno but he leaps them, tagging out to Van Dux. 

Van Dux tosses Lorenzo down to the floor onto the rest of his team, following up with a diving senton and returning to the ring. He delivers a splash to Lorenzo, followed then by Legacy with a 450 splash, going for the cover. But it's broken up by King. 

Dempsey and Dar begin to go back-and-forth in the middle of the ring but the latter cinches in an armbar. Connors lands a Swanton Bomb to break it. 

Each member of each team takes turns taking one another out, with Moreno getting the last laugh and taking all of his opponents out on the outside. Legacy follows up with a springboard onto them. 

Back in the ring, Dempsey plants Dar with a belly-to-back suplex, bridging over into the winning pinfall.

The bell rings and the pair go for quick roll-up attempts to no avail. Fenix tries an arm drag but Prosper rolls through it. They tie up by the hands and Fenix manages to get a second attempted arm drag off, finding himself halted by a dropkick to the face sending him to the outside. 

Prosper follows up with a moonsault to the outside. Back in the ring, Fenix catches Prosper with a thrust kick and goes for the cover, only for a near-fall. Fenix hits a little Penta step before sending Prosper to the corner for some audible chops, he follows up with an attempted suplex. But Prosper stops it, connects with a thrust kick of his own, and then a DDT before going for the cover. This time Fenix kicks out at two. 

Prosper now lighting up Fenix with chops, but Fenix returns fire with a chop and a knee to the mid-section. Fenix rolls Prosper up for a short two-count and cinches in a leg triangle. Both men look for a clothesline off the ropes and both end up dropped. 

They both return to their feet for a striking exchange, wobbling one another as they fall into opposing corners. They meet back in the ring for another striking exchange but Fenix lights Prosper up with kicks. 

Prosper reverses a butterfly hold into an X-Factor, going for two covers in short order with no three-count. Fenix delivers Adios Amigo and follows up with a high crossbody for another near-fall. Fenix goes back to the top and delivers a frog splash, going for the cover but again it's just a two-count.

Prosper reverses a rolling cutter into a German suplex, throwing Fenix into the ropes, but he bounces back with a handspring to land the cutter at the second time of asking. Fenix lands a running knee in the corner and looks for the Mexican Musclebuster, Prosper fights out of it but gets kicked off the top rope for his troubles. 

Fenix goes to the top rope, but Prosper fights back to hit a hurricanrana from the outside-in. Prosper goes for a moonsault but Fenix rolls out of the way, taking him to the other corner, softening him up with two kicks, and landing the Musclebuster at last for the winning pinfall. 

Rey Fenix def. EK Prosper via Pinfall to retain the AAA Cruiserweight Championship

Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair are out first, the former addressing her Heatwave opponent in Kelani Jordan. She says that a couple of years ago no one knew who she was, but now she stands there as a former Evolve Women's Champion, Iron Survivor, and reigning NXT Women's Champion. She says that she is the benchmark of the roster, not Jordan. 

"Now it's time for Kelani to put her money where her mouth is," she says before Jordan makes her entrance. 

She says it will only take her one shot to win the title, and she will put Grey back on the bench. Sinclair jumps in and says that they will be holding a championship celebration in her home town, but then Zaria interrupts her to address their title match. She says that she will erase every bad memory the Speed title evokes for her, but then Armstrong comes out and points out that she beat them both back-to-back and is looking to come home with both the titles. 

Grayson Waller interrupts Armstrong with his entrance, rocking a "Nepo Uce" hoodie. He says, "Ladies. Great to look at. Hard to listen to."

He says that he is "NXT" and the world is going to be talking about him conquering his demons and becoming NXT Champion. That prompts Tony D'Angelo to emerge, saying he doesn't care what version of Waller this is, he will still be a disappointment. 

Cruz Montana comes out now. He says the difference between him and everybody else is the fact that they all came here to talk and he came to throw hands. With that, a brawl breaks out between everyone involved, men banding off with men and women banding off with women. Zaria lands F5 on Armstrong, Sinclair lands X-Factor on Zaria, and Grey takes out Jordan. 

Zilla Fatu emerges and leaps off the top rope onto the men brawling at ringside, standing tall with the NXT Championship while Grey and Sinclair hold the NXT Women's, Women's North American, and Women's Speed titles aloft to close the show.
