WWE SmackDown Results 9/4 - Undisputed WWE Title Match, Bakusai Face Kit Wilson & The Miz

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.'s results for "WWE SmackDown" on September 4, 2026, coming to you from the Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio!

Shinsuke Nakamura and Kyoki of Bakusai will be taking part in their first match as a tag team as they go head-to-head with The Miz and Kit Wilson in what will mark the latter duo's first time teaming up since coming up short to Danhausen and one of the Minihausens at WWE Backlash on May 9. Nakamura introduced Kyoki as his new tag team partner via video package a couple of weeks ago, capturing the attention of MFT members and reigning WWE Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga.

Although Blake Monroe and Giulia were set to square off against one another during last Friday's episode of "SmackDown", the match never ended up taking place after Monroe attacked Giulia on the entrance ramp and later stated she wanted her first WWE main roster match to be for the WWE Women's Championship currently held by interim titleholder Chelsea Green. Following such, Monroe and Giulia's match has been advertised to be held on tonight's show.

Additionally, Sami Zayn will be making an appearance on tonight's show after causing an Undisputed WWE Championship Triple Threat Number One Contenders Match between Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, and GUNTHER to end in a no contest when he interfered last Friday. Cody Rhodes also has something on his mind to share as he prepares to collide with former friend turned bitter rival Randy Orton at WWE Sunday Night's Main Event this coming Sunday.

We are live! The show kicks off with a video recapping what went down in the Undisputed WWE Championship Triple Threat Number One Contenders Match last Friday.

Wade Barrett and Joe Tessitore then greet audiences at home as GUNTHER makes his way to the ring.

GUNTHER wastes no time calling out Sami Zayn and says "SmackDown" will not be continuing until Zayn appears. Zayn appears in the crowd and says he's there, then tells GUNTHER to say what he has to. He says GUNTHER seems pretty mad at him like everyone else and says GUNTHER is acting like the victim after he cost him the Undisputed WWE Championship Triple Threat Number One Contenders Match last Friday, then says he's the real victim. He says the Undisputed WWE Champion should be the last real good guy, but the man who currently holds the title in CM Punk. is the biggest snake in the grass.

Zayn continues to complain about being screwed over and GUNTHER should expect to be screwed over like he has been. He says no one gets theirs until he gets his, but GUNTHER says if Zayn doesn't want to come to the ring, he'll come to Zayn.

GUNTHER jumps the barricade, but Finn Balor appears in the crowd and says he's looking for justice for himself after Zayn cost him last week as well. Zayn runs into the ringside area as Balor chases him, but as he looks to retreat up the entrance ramp, Kevin Owens' music hits and he he chases Zayn through the crowd.

We then head backstage, where Nick Aldis approaches Punk and says he needs a Number One Contender for the Undisputed Championship. Punk says he has an idea and approaches a depressed Johnny Gargano as Candice LeRae stands by. Punk says Gargano fought his entire career to become a World Champion, then offers him an Undisputed WWE Championship match tonight. Gargano initially appears shocked and lifeless, but LeRae tells Punk to give her a few minutes to convince Gargano. The camera pans over to Gargano, and we see him standing up to accept the title match.

Back at ringside, Fatal Influence makes their way out. Tatum Paxley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss follow, with Bliss having informed Flair that Paxley is her tag team partner instead in the Gorilla position moments before they make their way out.

Paxley and Reid begin the action. The bell rings and Paxley sets up for a Code Red on Reid. Reid blocks her, but Henley makes the blind tag in and fires off knees on Paxley's midsection. Reid sends Paxley crashing into her knee shoulder first, and Henley pins Paxley. Paxley kicks out.

Back from the break, Paxley levels Henley with a superkick. Flair tags in and delivers a double crossbody to level Henley and Reid inside the ring. She fires off chops on Reid and Henley, then delivers a back handspring clothesline to Reid.

Flair sets up for a Figure Eight Leg Lock on Reid, but releases it when Henley comes at her. Flair delivers a Fallaway Slam to Henley and connects with a Natural Selection on Reid. Paxley then tags in and ascends to the top rope before landing a double crossbody on Reid and Henley on the outside. She looks to cinch in a Figure Eight Leg Lock on Reid, but Jayne distracts her. Bliss takes out Jayne, but Reid rolls up. Paxley kicks out and sends Reid crashing into a big boot from Flair as Flair stands on the apron. She then follows it up with a Cemetery Drive to Reid and pins her for the win.

Winner: Tatum Paxley and Charlotte Flair

After the match, Jade Cargill, B-Fab, and Michin attack Flair, Bliss, and Paxley ahead of their Six Woman Tag Team Match at Sunday Night's Main Event. Fatal Influence joins Cargill, B-Fab, and Michin in the beat down and leave the ring. This opens the door for Michin and B-Fab to both send Paxley crashing into the mat face first and for Cargill to deliver Jaded to Flair.

We then head backstage, where Cathy Kelly catches up with Nikki Bella. Nikki sends a pointed message to Paige, but Paige crashes the interview to tell Nikki that she's never liked her because she's built her career on hustle, loyalty, and respect. She tells Nikki to bring it in their match next week.

Standing inside the ring with a doctor, Aldis introduces Green and she makes her way out. Green tells the doctor she doesn't care what he has to say and says she's done this with Aldis already, then says she won't beg or plead or cry. She says she's extremely mad and reminds Aldis she's still Interim Women's Champion. She tells Aldis not to take being a fighting champion away from her and says she realizes that she has a black eye on her face for every woman in the locker room to see. She says she's waited 13 years for the Interim Women's Champion and if the women in the back thing it's that easy to take her title from her, then they should try.

Green says she doesn't need protection, but Aldis says it's his job to be concerned about Green's safety. He says it's not his choice anymore, and the doctor tells Green that she has a fractured orbital bone that is not fully healed as has been discussed. He tells Green that as long as she wears her face mask, she's cleared to compete inside the ring.

The Irresistible Forces' music hits, and Nia Jax and Lash Legend make their way out. Jax says she was waiting to hear that Green was cleared and tells her to stop playing games, then says she wants Green's Interim Women's Championship. She tells Green to hand over her title unless she wants her other orbital bone to be broken and surrounds Green on one side of the ring as Legend surrounds her on the other.

Tiffany Stratton's music hits and she runs out to the ring to come to Green's aid. Legend gets Stratton up on her shoulders, but Stratton delivers a lungblower to her. Aldis informs Jax that she can have her Interim Women's Championship match next week and makes a match between Jax and Stratton official up next.

Back from the break, the bell has rung and Jax is wearing down Stratton with a submission hold. Stratton breaks free and sends Jax crashing into the top turnbuckle face first, then lands a hurricanrana on her and sets up for the An-Nia-Lator. Stratton trips up Jax on the ropes and fires off right hands on her, then looks to level her with a pair of clotheslines. Jax stays standing, but Stratton catches her with a Stunner and a second springboard style one.

Stratton connects with a Crucifix Bomb on Jax and pins her, but Jax kicks out and looks to set up the Prettiest Moonsault Ever. Legend distracts Stratton, opening the door for Jax to deliver a Samoan Drop and an An-Nia-Lator to Stratton for the win.

Winner: Nia Jax

After the match, Jax rips Green's face mask off her and waves it around. Green slides into the ring to stare down Jax, then looks to grab her face mask back from her. Jax slides out of the ring with the face mask still in hand.

We then head backstage, where Kevin Owens shares his thoughts about CM Punk offering an Undisputed WWE Championship match to Johnny Gargano to Byron Saxton. He says if Sami Zayn appears at ringside in that match, "something tells him that [Zayn] won't be alone".

We then head over to a video of a sit down interview between Cody Rhodes and Corey Graves. Randy Orton crashes it and asks Graves if he can ask Rhodes a few questions, reminding Rhodes not to touch him as per "SmackDown" General Manager Nick Aldis' terms. He tries to goad Rhodes into hitting him, but Rhodes resists as he looks calmly at Orton. Things become increasingly intense between the pair, and Rhodes tells Orton that he's screwed at Sunday Night's Main Event.

We then head backstage, where Baron Corbin confronts Trick Williams and Lil Yachty.

Back at ringside, The Miz and Kit Wilson make their way out. Bakusai follows.

Kyoki and Wilson begin the action. The bell rings and the two lock up. Wilson flexes his biceps, but Bakusai levels Wilson with a crossbody and lands a clothesline on him in the corner. Miz tags in and fires off chops on Kyoki, but Shinsuke Nakamura tags in and delivers a German suplex to Miz using the middle rope. Wilson then levels Nakamura with a flying uppercut on the outside as the referee is looking away.

Back from the break, Miz delivers a boot to Nakamura's face. Nakamura rolls up Miz, but Miz kicks out and cinches in an Ankle Lock on him. Kyoki and Wilson tag in, and Kyoki delivers a hurricanrana to Wilson. He sends Wilson crashing into Miz and tosses Wilson over to Miz for Wilson to do the work for him and send Miz crashing out of the ring with a hurricanrana. Kyoki delivers a senton off the ropes to take out Wilson and Miz on the outside, then dumps Wilson back in the ring and delivers a Falcon Arrow to him.

Kyoki pins Wilson, but Miz breaks the fall and rains down forearms on Kyoki. Miz sends Nakamura crashing into the ring post shoulder first, but Kyoki rocks him with a codebreaker. Nakamura then sends Miz crashing out of the ring with a Kinshasa, but Wilson rolls up Kyoki. Kyoki kicks out and delivers a reverse Stunner to Wilson for the win.

Winners: Bakusai

After the match, MFT's music hits. Tama Tonga, Talla Tonga, and Haku make their way out to stare down Bakusai.

We then head backstage, where Damian Priest and R-Truth and The War Raiders send messages to one another ahead of their AAA World Tag team Championship match next week.

Cathy Kelley catches up with Blake Monroe in the Gorilla position, but Giulia blindsides Monroe with an attack and sends her crashing into the Titan Tron ahead of their scheduled match. Officials hold back Giulia, but Monroe tackles her and rains down right hands on her. The two women continue brawling, but another official appears to pry Giulia off Monroe. Giulia breaks free and lands an Arrivederci Knee to Monroe.

We then head backstage, where Sami Zayn finds Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae backstage. Zayn tells Gargano he's happy for him and says Gargano's Undisputed WWE Championship is justice for guys like them. He tells Gargano even if he's not at ringside with him, he's still out there with him. Zayn tells Gargano that if an opportunity falls into his lap, he wants him to take it.

Gargano and LeRae then make their way to the ring. CM Punk follows.

The bell rings and Punk delivers a pair of bodyslams to Gargano. He runs over Gargano with a shoulder tackle, but Gargano lands a Monkey Flip on Punk and rains down right hands on him in the corner. Punk sets up for a GTS on Gargano, but Gargano escapes with a hurricanrana and sends Punk crashing out of the ring. He then delivers a crossbody to him over the top rope.

Back from the break, Punk wears down Gargano with a submission hold. He ascends to the top rope, but Gargano fires off right hands on him and joins him on the ropes. Punk lands a right hand of his own on Gargano and shoves him off the middle rope, then delivers a crossbody to Gargano.

Gargano rolls up Punk, but Punk kicks out and Gargano levels Punk with a thrust kick. The two men exchange strikes with one another, but Gargano fires off left hands on Punk. Punk intercepts Gargano with a spinning kick to his head and pins him, but Garagno kicks out.

Punk fires off more right hands on Gargano as Gargano stands on the ring apron, but Gargano spears Punk through the middle rope and sets up for a superkick on Punk. Punk catches Gargano's foot and delivers a sit-out powerbomb to him, then goes for a pin but Gargano kicks out.

Punk calls for a GTS, but Sami Zayn appears in the ringside area. Punk brings the fight to Zayn and Zayn slides in the ring, but Candice LeRae connects with a hurricanrana on Punk off the ring apron as Zayn distracts the referee. Gargano lands a dive through the middle rope on Punk and follows it up with a DDT to him from the ring apron over the top rope, then goes for a pin but Punk kicks out.

Zayn grabs the Undisputed WWE Championship belt from the ringside area and slides it to Gargano, but Kevin Owens appears to attack Zayn from behind and rain down right hands on him. GUNTHER runs over Owens with a big boot and berates Zayn, but Finn Balor appears to take down GUNTHER with a Sling Blade. Zayn then hits Balor, GUNTHER, and Owens with the Undisputed WWE Championship belt.

Inside the ring, Punk lands a GTS on Gargano and pins him. LeRae distracts the referee in order for him to miss the pinfall. As LeRae still distracts the referee, Zayn hits Punk with the Undisputed WWE Championship and Gargano pins Punk. Punk manages to kick out, but Zayn whispers something to LeRae. Nick Aldis appears with two officials to yell at Zayn and make him go to the back. Back inside the ring, Punk lands a single GTS on Gargano for the win.

Winner (and still): CM Punk

After the match, Zayn and Aldis continue arguing at the top of the entrance ramp. Punk grabs a microphone and asks Aldis to make an Undisputed WWE Championship match between him and Zayn next Friday. Aldis agrees, and the show goes off the air.
