AEW's Jim Ross Pays Tribute To The Late Andy Williams, Aka The Butcher

The unexpected loss of Andy "The Butcher" Williams continues to weigh on the wrestling world, with AEW commentator Jim Ross now one of the latest to pay tribute to the late musician-turned-wrestler.

"What a beautiful human being, just positive," Ross said of Williams on "Grilling JR." "By his body language, his attitude, his dialogue, he made you a motivated one to want to help him. He just was absolutely amazing. Sweetheart of a guy. I enjoyed those early days at AEW when Butcher and The Blade were in there. He was Butcher and the other gentleman was Blade. Good team, solid team. You're going to headline them on a pay-per-view? Probably not. But would you like to have him in your dressing room and on your cards? You're damn right. He's a sweetheart of a guy"

" ... I really enjoyed working with him. Really nice guy," Ross continued. "I thought they added some color and some pageantry, shall we say, some sizzle to the early days of AEW and the matches that they were involved in."

Williams made his All Elite Wrestling Debut in 2019 alongside his tag team partner The Blade. In the years following, the pair feuded with a number of other AEW tag teams, including The Lucha Bros and The Hardy Boyz. Williams and The Blade exited AEW earlier this year after their contracts expired. Fellow Buffalo native Daniel Garcia won a battle royal in Williams' honor on last weekend's episode of "AEW Collision." 

Williams died earlier this month after suffering a medical emergency toward the end of his tag team match at Enjoy Wrestling. He was 48 years old.
