Backstage News On WWE's Plans For Triplemania 2027 After Successful Mexico City Shows

Last weekend, wrestling fans were treated to a string of four connected events: "WWE SmackDown," AAA TripleMania 34 night one, TripleMania 34 night two, and "WWE Raw." According to a new report, all shows emerged successful from a ticket sale, merchandise, and enthusiasm standpoint, so much so that the same lineup might return next year.

Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select reports that WWE, which acquired AAA in 2025, is "absolutely" open to once again scheduling "Raw" and "SmackDown" around the 2027 AAA TripleMania event. The overarching goal would be to create a dream destination weekend for wrestling fans, and considering that next year's TripleMania will mark the 35th edition of the respective event, WWE will reportedly seek to capitalize on the anniversary. The dates for next year's potential grand weekend have yet to be revealed.

The September 11 edition of "SmackDown," TripleMania 34 night two, and the September 14 episode of "Raw" all emanated from the Arena CDMX in Mexico City. TripleMania 34 night one broadcast live directly after "SmackDown" from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. All events featured a mix of talents from AAA and WWE.

Sami Zayn headlined WWE's blue brand by dethroning CM Punk as Undisputed WWE Champion. Shortly after, Omos bested WWE Hall of Famer and AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio in the main event of TripleMania night one. On night two, El Grande Americano unseated Dominik Mysterio as AAA Mega Champion. On "Raw," Roman Reigns then successfully defended the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Penta.
