Backstage Report On WWE Holding Tryouts In Colombia, Standout Names

WWE has been busy during their international excursion. Along with holding live "SmackDown" and "Raw" shows in Mexico alongside Night Two of TripleMania, they had a live event in Chile last weekend where Stephanie Vaquer unexpectedly defeated Liv Morgan for the Women's World Championship with the help of special guest referee Becky Lynch. WWE also held tryouts in Bogota, Colombia.

The tryouts featured talent from Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, and Chile and was directed by Matt Bloom and William Regal. "Wrestling Observer Newsletter" had some information on several of the wrestlers who tried out.

One talent that had a lot of attention is Ignafcio Difuentes. She is a member of Chile's national fencing team and competed in the 2023 Pan American Games. Difuentes is also a medical student, model, beauty pageant contestant and a TV personality. WON noted that she thought it was a scam when WWE first invited her to the tryouts. She learned they discovered her in the Chile Miss Universe pageant and learned she was a high level athlete.

Among other tryout attendees was Chilean wrestler Angelica Riadi, who has wrestled on the indies in the U.S. and Brazil under the name "Roma Luchadora". Chile's Cirpirano Riquelme is a four- time South American champion in hammer throw. WWE will be scouting the South American Games this week.

Former NFL player, Samimis Daniel Reyes was another attendee from Chile. He played for the Washington football team in 2021. Reyes didn't play college football, but instead played college basketball. In 2023, he turned down a WWE tryout because he was still chasing his NFL dream. The following year, he was on various NFL practice squads including the Jacksonville Jaguars. A knee injury forced him to give up the NFL.
