Joe Hendry has already tasted the top prizes in TNA and "WWE NXT." Now as a member of WWE's main roster, he aims to claim one of its two respective world titles next.

How does he intend to fulfill that goal, though? During an appearance on "Insight With Chris Van Vliet," Hendry explained how small progress each week could lead him exactly to his desired destination.

"If you're not in this business to be the world champion, then you are in the wrong business," he said. "That is why we get into this business. To be the world champion has to be the goal. What I do and how I manage that mentally is I have really honest conversations with myself. I go, 'Am I as good as Roman in this area? Am I as good as CM Punk in this area? Am I as good as insert world champion?' The answer is there's work to be done. There's a long road ahead of me. But the thing I love about it is it's like, okay, in order for me to cover this ground and get to where I need to go, I'm going to get 1% better every week. How am I going to do that? Okay, I need to do this; I need to do that."

To illustrate the progress he's made so far, Hendry recalled a double fallaway slam he delivered to The Judgment Day's JD McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio, a move he's only just recently brought into the fold. In the gym, Hendry also noted that he's in the process of leaning out so he can achieve what he described as a more aesthetic physique.

The former NXT Champion admitted that he still has a long way to go before he potentially touches a WWE world championship. He refuses to let the aspect of time deter his chase, however. In fact, he's embracing it.
