Former WWE & TNA Star Steve Maclin Shares Thoughts On Joining AEW
This past weekend, Steve Maclin faced Adam Copeland and tried to spoil his homecoming in Toronto, Canada at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling's Northern Rising event. Despite being unsuccessful in defeating the "Rated-R Superstar," Maclin has outlined his next goal in professional wrestling.
Over the past year, MLP and All Elite Wrestling have developed a strong partnership together, and after fighting one of AEW's top stars, Maclin explained that he has interest in working for the Jacksonville-based promotion during a recent interview with TSN.
"Yeah, I'm always interested in that end of the world with AEW," Maclin shared, "especially with my wife there, but then a lot of my friends are also there – my best friend, Josh Alexander, you got the Rascalz [Myron Reed, Zachary Wentz and Dezmond Xavier] there now, too – a lot of TNA alumni, but there's also a lot of the talent on the AEW roster I've been around a long time. There's dream matchups for me, as well, and if that were to come to fruition and I ended up there, that would be awesome. I would love the opportunity to go out there on 'AEW Dynamite,' 'Collision,' Ring of Honor."
Maclin's wife, Deonna Purrazzo, has been an AEW star for three years and has wrestled in two MLP matches in 2026 as well. Josh Alexander was also featured at Northern Rising last weekend and defeated Stu Grayson in a MLP Canadian Title Unification Match. Now that Maclin has main evented for MLP against Copeland, it remains to be seen if his performance was enough to catch the eye of AEW President Tony Khan.
