Amazing Red Wins TNA X-Division Title An Hour After HOF Induction
Heading into TNA Bound For Glory, a new X-Division Champion was to be crowned in a six-way scramble. As a last-minute surprise, though, newly-minted TNA Hall of Famer Amazing Red joined the field and went on to win the gold for himself.
The full lineup for tonight's X-Division Championship match was as follows: Fabian Aichner, KC Navarro, Cedric Alexander, Rich Swann, Ryan Nemeth, BDE, and Amazing Red. Nemeth kicked off the action by attempting to shake everyone's hand, only to eat a superkick from Navarro. Multiple competitors then got knocked out of the ring, leaving Alexander and Swann momentarily alone to battle it out. Alexander delivered a pair of hurricanranas, followed by a German suplex and a double stomp.
Upon returning to the ring, Aichner hoisted BDE and Swann on his shoulders for a double slam before landing a single moonsault on BDE. Aichner ate a kick to the head from Red shortly after, as did Alexander and BDE. The latter answered with a springboard crossbody and a codebreaker to Red. BDE and Swann worked together to further neutralize Red, with Swann then wiping out Nemeth with a cannon ball to outside.
In the closing moments of the match, Aichner dropped Red and Alexander with brainbusters. When BDE then sought to wipe out Aichner with a dive through the ropes, he instead got caught and slammed to the floor. Navarro delivered a Blessing In Disguise to Aichner next. Before he could gain a pinfall, however, Nemeth pulled the referee out of the ring; Navarro promptly responded by taking down Nemeth with a dive. Back in the ring, Red landed a big boot on Navarro, which he looked to follow with a Code Red off the top turnbuckle. Navarro managed to escape, but not for long, as they met back up and descended with a Spanish Fly. Red followed with a successful Code Red to kick off the fourth X-Division Championship reign of his career.
