El Hijo De Dr. Wagner Jr. & Galeno Upset Birthright In WWE NXT Dusty Tag Classic

The quarterfinals of the 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic rolled on this week, with BirthRight's Charlie Dempsey and Lexis King taking on AAA World Tag Team Champions El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno on "WWE NXT." Wagner and Galeno ultimately emerged victorious, thus advancing to the semi-finals.

Wagner and Dempsey started the match with mat-based action. Wagner delivered an arm drag, to which Dempsey answered a kick. King and Galeno then tagged in, with the former falling victim to a shoulder tackle and a senton. King tried to escape further damage by rolling to the outside, only to find himself and Dempsey simultaneously wiped out by a dive from Wagner.

In the tag bout's closing moments, Wagner descended from the top rope, looking to deliver a Frog Splash on King; instead, he met a pair of knees from the BirthRight memebr. A furious Zilla Fatu then charged down to the ring, leveling Uriah Connors on the outside floor before scaring Arianna Grace into retreating to the ring. On the other side, Galeno rammed Dempsey into the barricade.

Back inside the ring, Wagner dropped King with a Michinoku Driver. Galeno followed with a Frog Splash for the win.

Later in the show, Wagner and Galeno will learn the identity of their semi-finals opponents after Hank Walker and Tank Ledger face off with The Creed Brothers. Rounding out the final four of this year's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is NXT Tag Team Champions The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes) and the duo of Romeo Moreno and Noam Dar.
