Report: AEW's Tony Khan Was 'Extremely Happy' After Meeting With Skydance Execs
Several weeks ago, the merger between Warner Bros Discovery and Paramount became final, resulting in a combined company known as Skydance. Though many are still wondering how that will affect AEW, throughout the process, Tony Khan has spoken glowingly of David Ellison and shared his belief that Ellison was the best person to take over. He pointed to Ellison being a supporter of AEW and believes the company will be stronger with the merger.
On "Wrestling Observer Radio," Dave Meltzer reported that Khan had meetings with Skydance on Friday in Los Angeles, California.
"I don't know any of the details yet, but I do know that [Khan] came out of the meetings extremely happy," Meltzer said. "Much happier than he's been. ... He's always been happy about this relationship, he's always been beaming about it since day one, but he definitely came out of these meetings the happiest he's been. And obviously there were moves made already. ... There's two wrestling moves that Skydance already made and neither of them would look positive."
After initially reporting in his latest newsletter that Women of Wrestling was being canceled, Meltzer clarified that the show will get another season, but it won't be syndicated. He also said that a channel on Roku that aired Women of Wrestling and NWA 24/7 has been canceled. However, it doesn't appear that anything is being cut back for AEW after Khan's meetings.
