WWE RAW Opener:

RAW opened up with a video package looking at the events of last week with WWE Champion John Cena taking on Snitsky in a Lumberjack Match, with all the Lumberjacks hand picked by Chris Jericho and Eric Bischoff. Cena pulled out the win and tonight these two men will face off in a Battle of the Bands. The fireworks then went off in the arena as Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler and the Coach welcomed us to the show and then the music of Kurt Angle hit as he made his way down to the ring.

Kurt Angle Invitational
Referee: Chad Patton
Eugene vs. Kurt Angle

Angle got on the mic and said he spent the last two weeks making a liar tap out, and tonight he is looking for real competition. The music of Christy Hemme then hit in the arena as she made her way down to the ring. Angle looked confused as Christy got in the ring and got on the mic. He asked is she wants to be in his challenge, and he has a great idea. He said since he is a gentleman, why don't they start in the referee's decision and she can start on the top or bottom. She said she is out here to introduce his opponent, Cleveland's own...Eugene!

Eugene made his way down to a great pop from the crowd and then hugged Christy and the referee. Eugene went to hug Angle, but he pushed him away. Angle asked what in the hell he is doing out here, first of all he is not even from Cleveland. Eugene took his coat off and had a Cleveland Brown's Jersey on as the crowd popped. Angle told Eugene to look at him. They argued about him being from Cleveland or not. Angle said he has only known him for 30 seconds and he's already making him mentally challenged. Angle said if Eugene wants to pretend he is from Cleveland, didn't he just get back from beign injured? Angle said get ready to go back to the injured list.

The Match:

Angle attacked Eugene from behind and then hammered him in the corner and tore his Jersey off and blew his nose on it, and then choked Eugene with it. Angle gave him some crossface blows and then some uppercuts. Angle hit an elbow drop and then a vertical suplex as Christy cheered Eugene on. Angle kicked Eugene hard in the ribs and then stomped him in the corner and choked him with his boot. The fans chanted "Angle Sucks" as he hit some more uppercuts in the corner. Eugene started to get fired up and hit some right hands and there are only 40 seconds left. Eugene went for the Stunner but Angle pushed him off. Angle hit the Angle Slam and went for the Ankle Lock but Eugene kicked him out of the ring and the clock counted down to 0 and Eugene has won the gold medal!

Winner – Eugene

The Aftermath:

Eugene and Christy celebrated and hugged and then put the medal around his neck and Angle is pissed. Angle can't believe he's lost as Eugene circled the ring with Christy.

Cena said he goes through phases, but he knows he is the WWE Champion, and the Champ is here. Bischoff said that he is not the kind of champion that he wants to represent him and his brand. He said he knows what Cena is all about; he's nothing but white trash. Bischoff called him a wannabe and a thug, he called him and his people scum and slime, and that they don't care about anyone but themselves. Bischoff continued to rant on and said his title reign is about to come to an end. Bischoff then turned around and Cena had left and Bischoff had been talking to himself.

Mixed Tag Team Match

The music of the Heart Throbs is playing in the arena, and they have a mini guy with them named the Pocket Rocket, and then Viscera made his way down Cloacas.

The start:

Cloacas took down Pocket Rocket and then Pocket Rocket came back with a clothesline and them a stomp. He tagged in Antonio who slapped Cloacas and then shoved him into the corner and slapped him around the head again. Antonio went for a knee in the corner but Cloacas moved. Antonio did an Airplane Spin and then went for an elbow but Cloacas moved. The crowd is dead by the way. Romeo held the leg of Cloacas on the outside but he escaped and tagged in Viscera. Viscera hit a series of clotheslines and then a hip toss and some chops.

The Finish:

Viscera hit a Samoan Drop and then Romeo came in and jumped on the back of Biscera but he clotheslined him outside. Pocket Rocket then came in and hit some right hands to the gut of Viscera to no effect. Viscera tossed him over the top onto Romeo and then Antonio was given a body slam. An ambulance is shown arriving backstage for the Stretcher Match here tonight between Kane and Edge.

In the arena:

The announce team, who are now back at ringside and not on the stage for the record sent their condolences to the friends and family of Lord Alfred Hayes who recently passed away. We then go to a tribute video.

Backstage:

Eric Bischoff is backstage with Shelton Benjamin. Benjamin said he was the Intercontinental Champion for eight months, and over the past couple of weeks, Carlito has gotten himself counted out and disqualified, and asked for a No Disqualification match for the Intercontinental Title. Bischoff said what he is going to get is a lesson in respect. What he's going to get is a Handicap Match. Shelton Benjamin vs. Snitsky and Chris Masters. Benjamin said that stinks and left.

Backstage:

Maria is backstage with Chris Jericho and she said she loves Fozzy the Bear, and she has to know if any of the other Muppets are coming tonight. Maria was wearing a very revealing top. Jericho said her attitude is the same as Cleveland's and the negativity since he has gotten since he arrived. He said he is a Hall of Fame performer, and will embarrass Cena in the Battle of the Bands tonight. Jericho said he is Allotoyah of Rock and Rollah, and Cena is hip hop, it's not even real music. Jericho said it's so unfair, and then left. We are then taken to the set next to the stage for the Battle of the Bands and that is coming up next (and may also be the reason why the commentators are ringside tonight).

Battle of the Bands:

The arena went to black, and then John Cena's music hit and performed "Bad, Bad Man" with Bumpy Knuckles and Tha Trademarc. The music of Chris Jericho then hit as he made his way out to the opposite side of the stage. Jericho got on the mic and said that he has to be honest with Cena, and that just plain sucked. He said it was rotten, and Cena told him to show him how it's done. Jericho said that all of these people bought into what he was doing, and they cheered for him. He said that Cena actually fooled them, and they are all a flock of sheep and that is unfair. Jericho said he has one of the greatest Rock and Roll Bands waiting in the back, and they are already booing them because of him. Jericho said if they were in any other arena the fans would be cheering. Jericho said the fans have already made up their minds, and he is pulling Fozzy out of this contest. Jericho said these people don't deserve to see his band play here tonight. Jericho said they will all get to see him perform at SummerSlam, and at SummerSlam he will beat Cena, and he will be the new WWE Champion, because he is the true Bad, Bad Man. Jericho left and then Cena did another performance, this time of his entrance theme, "My Time is Now" in the aisle way.

Backstage:

The Diva Search girls are shown backstage dancing to Cena's song, and they are up next.

Backstage:

Shawn Michaels is shown in the back wearing a suit, and he looked in a mirror and pretended he had a zit and called for make up jokingly.

In the arena:

The music of Shawn Michaels hit in the arena as he made his way to the ring in a suit. Michaels got on the mic and said that he would call Hulk Hogan out here tonight right now, but that's not going to happen as Hogan is out promoting his new TV show, Hogan Knows Best. He said that he has no asperations of being a rap star, a rock star, a movie star or even have his own TV show, he just wants to be known as the greatest in ring performer the WWE has ever known. Having five star matches, bringing down the house and breaking his back; that's not enough for him. He said Hogan has been living off a reputation that he created 20 years ago, but Michaels goes out there night after night, and he doesn't mind earning his stripes. He said he has seen Hogan's show, and he lives in a million dollar home, paid for by the sweat off the brow of every fan. He said after all the fans have given him, what's the best that he can give you? Michaels then mocked Hogan with his poses. Michaels said it's gone pretty quiet in here and people are running around in the back because HBK is doing stuff out here that they aren't allowed to do. He isn't allowed to do stuff that would hurt the Hulkster, he isn't allowed to tell the truth. What are they going to do; fire him? They are looking at their main event for SummerSlam, so deal with it. He said that Hogan wanted the old HBK, well guess what, you got him. When all this started, it was about him just needing to know years from now when people look back, who really was the all around cowboy, and with all due respect to everyone, it doesn't matter what they believe. All that matters is when SummerSlam is over, when he looks into Hogan's eyes, he will know that he is the Showstopper, the Main Event, the Icon. Hulk Hogan, whatcha gonna do when the HeartBreak Kid, Shawn Michaels, won't lay down for you!

Next Week:

We will see the first ever Eugene Invitational for the Olympic Gold Medal.
