ECW News: An Update On The ECW TV Situation
Once again, ECW will be taped prior to Smackdown every Tuesday, at least for the time being. The ECW tapings will likely go into effect sometime in June. It will be a one hour show that airs on ECW.com (and maybe WWE.com). In international markets where Velocity airs, the ECW show will replace Velocity on the schedule. WWE are currently negotiating for a U.S. time slot. The ECW show will more than likely end up on the USA Network.
Vince McMahon doesn't want to add a new day of television tapings to the weekly schedule because of the drain in man hours. WWE already tapes shows twice a week, which is more than enough for them. Also, McMahon has been very open to suggestions of adding former ECW wrestlers that he knows little or nothing about.
Major moves regarding ECW are being made all this week. Meetings have been ongoing, contracts are being sent out, and talent is being contacted.
The ECW brand will be launched on June 7th in Dayton, Ohio with a special WWE vs. ECW show that will air on the USA Network. The show will feature wrestlers from all three brands.
