Latest On Kurt Angle's Injury Status, WWE Backstage News Inside

WWE.com is reporting that the main event for WWE's Judgment Day PPV on May 21 in Phoenix, Arizona will be Rey Mysterio defending the World Heavyweight Championship against current WWE United States Champion JBL. This may or may not confirm earlier reports this week in the Pro Wrestling Torch that JBL was the likely candidate to defeat Mysterio for the World Title and then defend that title against Rob Van Dam at the second ECW One Night Stand PPV on June 11 when RVD cashes in his "Money in the Bank" clause. There are some conflicting reports on that theory as some state that as of today, that was not the plan and the original plan was still in place to have Rob Van Dam face the RAW Champion (WWE Champion) at that time in June. We hope to get more information on this as it becomes available.

WWE.com is reporting today that as a result of a "cracked rib", former World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle will be out of action for an "undetermined amount of time." The story on WWE's website states that Angle suffered the injury during the WWE's recent tour of Europe during a match with Mark Henry. Angle added, At that point, I wasn t even sure if I was going to be able to compete against Mysterio for the World Heavyweight Championship." It should be noted that although Angle does have a slight rib injury, the general wear and tear of his body is the main reason for the time off. As a result of Angle's injury, he will be unable to compete in the rest of the King of the Ring Tournament and Booker T will now advance to the finals on SmackDown. We hope to get more information regarding Angle's injury and how long he is expected to be out of action for in the next few weeks or even months.
