Inside the WWE, they are crediting the 2.8 ECW due to a mixture of curiosity over the new brand and the WWE RAW superstars appearing on the ECW debut. This is interesting as the opening segment, featuring Edge and John Cena featured the lowest rated quarter hour for the entire ECW hour, scoring a 2.6 from 10:00-10:15 PM. ECW s rating started to rise when Sandman vs. Zombie, Tazz vs. Jerry Lawler, and Kelly's first backstage promo aired from 10:15-10:30 PM. The high hour mark made a 2.9 from 10:30-10:45 PM with Kelly's striptease, Kurt Angle vs. Justin Credible, and the Extreme Battle Royal entrances. Once the Battle Royal itself started the rating dipped down to a 2.7 from 10:45-11:00 PM. The two minute over run featuring Sabu eliminating Big Show to win, scored a 3.2 rating.

For those wondering, Tommy Dreamer has no creative control in the new ECW. Dreamer was heavily involved in putting together the first successful ECW One Night Stand PPV, however then slowly started to loose creative power. At the moment Paul Heyman is writing the show with assistance from Dave Lagana, however Vince McMahon is making sure they are scripting it how he would want it.

It was said that Tommy Dreamer was very angry with the overall debut of ECW on Sci Fi backstage after the show was taped.
