Big Evening Update: Trish's Retirement, Sabu/Heyman Plans, Lots More

It was announced during Raw on The Score in Canada that WWE Champion Edge will take over and be the special in game host as the Toronto Blue Jays host the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on 9/15 (7:07pm start, available on both Rogers Sportsnet Ontario and Fox Sportsnet Florida). The in game host at Blue Jay games tend to hype up the crowd, give away prizes and just run the show during the TV commercial breaks.

Edge will be on the WB11 (New York) at 6:40 to promote the 9/11 show at Madison Square Garden.

As noted, Trish is in fact taking time off after the Unforgiven PPV in Toronto. She needed to take a break from the business and will be getting married. No word on when or if she'll be returning to the WWE. [Source: Mike Johnson @ PWInsider.com]

Concerning Trish Stratus' retirement, there is an article on WWE.com which talks about it. Most of the article is in character, but has some truth to it. The article is called "Trish confirms retirement".

Dave Meltzer is reporting that the Sabu vs. Paul Heyman main event tonight on ECW was a change made yesterday by Vince McMahon. The original show was thrown out yesterday by McMahon on the guise they needed something stronger for ratings tonight. The feeling was last night's Raw, because it was on Sci-Fi and not USA, was going to do 25% less viewers, so ECW would have less people being directed to watch Sci-Fi and thus needed a more enticing then usual match.
