How Long Is Holly Out For?, More On Basham Injury
As noted last night, Danny Basham suffered a torn biceps at an ECW house show on the weekend of 9/10. He had surgery this past week and he will be out of action until April 2007. Heyman's two security guards are Doug Basham, and the man replacing Danny, Derrick Neikirk. Neikirk is a DSW wrestler who had been teaming with another DSW wrestler, Ryan O'Reilly, at some recent ECW house shows. They were scheduled to be introduced as a heel tag team within a month or so, but O'Reilly got himself suspended and Neikirk was without a spot. Now it looks like O'Reilly will be the one without a spot when his 30 day suspension ends.
For the record, Hardcore Holly needed 24 stitches to close the wounds on his back. WWE physician Dr. Ferdinand Rios explained, "The injury went all the way down to the fatty tissue; the layer right above the muscle. The injury shouldn't cause him too much of a problem other than the risk of infection from a dirty ring; he'll be on antibiotics to prevent that. The stitches will stay in for ten days and he probably will not be able to wrestle for ten days."
