Big WWE/TNA Update: Ratings, Another John Cena Movie Planned?
According to The Wrestling Observer, there are some incorrect reports making the rounds today regarding the demographic ratings and overall ratings for TNA iMPACT! this past Thursday night featuring the debut of Kurt Angle. Although the show pulled in 1.1 million viewers overall and was the biggest rating in a few months for TNA, it was still around 300,000 viewers below the record level set this past summer.
Last night's 10/13 edition of WWE Friday Night Smackdown drew a 2.3 rating based on the fast nationals. That took the CW Network to last place overall among the networks and is the lowest national rating Smackdown has scored since the start of CW. We will pass on the final number as soon as its available.
As reported, "The Marine" starring John Cena is estimated as doing $2.25 million in its opening night last night, opening at No. 6 overall. At the moment, the movie is not meeting projections as the film will likely hit $7 million overall for the weekend based on the Friday night numbers. This will no doubt come off as a big disappointment as Cena was not able to draw anyone new except for the usual wrestling fan base.
WWE.com has added a new "Five Questions" with Cena.
There is also an IGN.com interview up with Cena.
According to a report from KNBC in Los Angeles, producer Joel Simon is stating that there is already another John Cena film project for 2007. According to Simon, the project will start shooting after WrestleMania 23 in Detroit.
