What You Didn't See On No Mercy Last Night

David Gladstone sent the following to PWInsider:

Dark match: Jimmy Wang Yang defeated Sylvan...

Good choice to open the show with Hardy/Helms – introducing Hardy first...that MAY have been the biggest pop of the night...

The crowd could not have cared less about the tag title match...however – after the match – there appeared to be an altercation between the crowd and James/Stevens...honestly – it could have just been the normal fan/heel interaction – as I was on the other side of the ring and it was dark – but I'm pretty sure something occurred...from a distance – KC James looks a LOT like Steve Austin circa 1990...

If the Miz is a heel – why is his "hoo-rah" chant responded to so loudly??...(sorry Dave – didn't mean to steal your rhetorical question gig)...

Actually – I realize I just lied...the crowd cared less about MVP than they did about the tag match...the "boring" chant – short as it was – was the only reaction out of the crowd at all...

Needless to say – the crowd HATED the Undertaker/Kennedy finish...and though there was a pop for the Charles Robinson tombstone – no one around me understood why he did it...

I was curious to read the report of the PPV when I got home to see if the camera's followed Ray and Chavo into the crowd (which apparently they did)...in the arena – we had mostly the hard camera shot – from which most of the action was obscured...the people that actually COULD see what was going on were obviously VERY into the match...I couldn't see a lot however...Vicky Guerrero smartly stayed at ringside until the end of the match...

To the guy in line who thought I was an idiot for suggesting that Chris Benoit might return tonight..."thhhhppppbbbbttt!!!" (though honestly – I thought he would be MVP's opponent)...HUGE pop for his entrance theme...then – the crowd died...not sure why – as I thought they had a good match...

Crowd stayed mostly subdued for the Fatal Four Way as well...only when Batista was on offense was there any sign of life...again – I'm not sure why – as I thought all in all it was a good match (if not spectacular) – but just very little from us...

After the show went off the air...Finlay went over to the announce table and hit Michael Cole lightly with the shillelagh...he then asked Nick Patrick for help walking out – then Nick asked another person to help...Finlay was either legitimately hurt or selling VERY well...

Batista and Lashley stayed in the ring – then shook hands...Lashley then walked to the back allowing Batista to pose for the remaining crowd...

The bad news I guess is that there were TONS of empty seats...upper deck tarped off except from hard camera view...maybe only 1/3 full on the hard camera side...it was actually funny live to see the wrestlers posing on that side nearest the entrance – as there were VERY few fans in that area...

This was not a blow away show by any means – but all in all – I enjoyed it...
