WWE Friday Night Smackdown! Results October 6, 2006

Smackdown comes to you from Wichita, Kansas.

We open with King Booker announcing that Lashley will face his friend Batista. Camera cuts to Lashley who announces that King Booker will face Finlay.

Rey Mysterio & Matt Hardy vs Chavo Geurrero & Gregory Helms
Rey and Helms start things off. Helms with a series of punches and kicks, but Rey counters an irish whip into a hurrican-rana. Hardy in- back elbow to Helms followed by a elbow drop. Rey back in with a springboard double axe handle but gets planted by a rydean bomb from Helms. Chavo in now with upper cuts . Quick tag back to Helms who goes back to work on Rey but allows him to get the tag to Hardy who cleans house. Clothesline to Chavo. Clothesline/bulldog combo on hells for two. Rey comes in but Chavo dumps him to the outside but Rey lands on his feet. Chavo catches him with a right as Rey tries to springboard back in though. Meanwhile, Helms is pummeling Hardy and applies a variation on the triangle choke. Chavo tags in and gets in some punches and kicks then another quick tag to Helms. Helms chokes Hardy over the ropes and Chavo gets in some cheap shots. Hardy catches Helms as he goes off the ropes with a clothesline. Side effect to Chavo. Rey tagged in and hits the seated senton on Helms. Kicks to both Helms and Chavo. Springboard body press by Rey misses Chavo but catches Helms. It breaks down with all four men in the ring. Rey rolls through a sunset flip by Chavo and counters with a stiff kick to the head. Rey and Mysterio set up for the old Hardy Boyz poetry in motion double team but Chavo catches Rey and Rey counters into a hurricane-rana that sends Chavo into 619 position. Hardy drop toe holds Helms across the rope and Rey gives them both the 619. Vickie pulls Chavo out of the ring as Hardy hits the twist of fate on Helms for the win. **1/4

Elijah Burke w/ Sylvester Turkey vs Tatanka
Elijah Burke takes a moment to introduce himself before the match. Burke misses a clothesline and Tatanka goes to work with stiff chops. Hard rights and a suplex for two by Tatanka. Burke reverses a whip into a knee, then follows it up with a whip into the corner chest first and then hits a dropkick. Tatanka comes back with more chops and rights but Burke cuts him off and hits a springboard delayed handstand elbow drop from the top rope. Burke with a half abdominal wrench then into a chinlock. Tatanka elbows out and MORE rights and chops followed by a one man flap jack and a pair of clotheslines. Samoan drop and Tatanka hits the tomahawk from the top for a close 2 ? count. Side Russian leg sweep for two more. Burke with jabs and Turkey provides enough distraction for Burke to hit the stroke for the win. **

King Booker tells Finlay to do the right thing and lay down for him. Finlay respectably reminds King Booker that he loves to fight.

King Booker w/ Queen Sharmell vs Finlay
Lockup and King Booker (KB) yells to Finlay to lay down for his king. Queen Sharmell tries to get the shillelagh prompting Finlay to go out after her. KB catches Finlay with a baseball slide dropkick. KB tosses Finlay into the steps. Back inside KB chokes Finlay. But telegraphs a back drop allowing Finlay regain control with a clothesline and a knee that gets two. Finlay with a headlock and some nice uppercuts followed by a pair of stomps to the gut. He rams KB shoulder into the steel post and continues to attack him from the apron. Finlay has a submission on but KB counters with a jaw breaker. Booker with the spinebuster for two. Suplex attempt but Finlay gets a thumb to the eyes. Finlay misses clothesline- Bookened attempt-coutered. Sharmell trips up Finlay prompting Lil' Bastard to come out and he chases her with a mouse. This distracts KB allowing Finlay to hit him with the shillelagh for the win. ***

Batista vs Lashley
Handshake before the match. Lock up and a test of strength with Lashley getting the edge. Lashley knocks Batista with a shoulder tackle . Batista unloads on Lashley wit punches and then gets a shoulder tackle of his own. Lashley up and they're nose to nose now. Lashley with rights but Batista comes back with a high elbow. Rear naked choke by Batista. Lashley elbows out and now rights to Batista. Batista whips Lashley into corner followed by a clothesline and shoulders. Lashley comes right back with a whip and clothesline into the corner and adds shoulder tackle from a 3 point stance. Batista misses a clothesline and Lashley scoops him up for the running powerslam. Batista slips out and they double clothesline each other. Finlay appears out of nowhere to attack Batista drawing the DQ.*1/2

King Booker joins the action and all four men brawl Teddy Long comes out and makes Sunday's title match into a fatal 4-way.

Back from the break, everyone argues in Long's office. So Long makes a tagteam match for tonight : Lashley and Batista against Finlay and King Booker.

Sylvan vs Jimmy Wang Yang
Sylvan with an armbar but Yang counters into one of his own. Yang flips through a hiptoss and lands a well placed kick to the back of the head. Yang with chops and he hits the running wheel kick on Sylvan in the corner then flips over onto the apron. Yang with some fancy offense now and Sylvan turns him inside out with a hard clothesline. Sylvan with a bear hug- Yang fights out high elbow and a head scissors by Yang. Yang with a pair of clotheslines., a back drop, and a ddt that gets two. Sylvan hits a spinning protoplex for two. He goes two 2nd rope but Yang catches him mid air with a wheel kick!! 1-2-3 no-Sylvan kicks out. Yang with an enziguri. Yang goes for a victory roll but Sylvan grabs the ropes allowing him to score the pin. **3/4*

Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP get it?) comes out and cuts a rather uninspired promo. He just goes on and on about how great he is as JBL conveniently points out he hasn't fought anybody.

We then get a surprisingly good promo from MR. Kennedy. He tells us that he isn't afraid of the Undertaker and that the future is here: He is the future and The Undertaker's hocus pocus tricks will no help him.

Michelle McCool introduce KC James (who has a new haircut) and Idol Stevens. They say that they will win the titles this Sunday.

Ashley w/ Brian Kendrick & Paul London vs Michelle McCool w/ KC James & Idol Stevens.
Michelle opens with uppercuts and kicks to Ashley in the corner. Michelle chokes Ashley a la Stacey Kiebler style. Hair toss by Michelle followed by a series of covers that all get two. Ashley fights back with some kidney shots. She locks on an abdominal /neck wrench and the rolls it into a pin for two. Ashley with a nice boston crab but KC James helps her get to the ropes and the two teams argue on the outside. Ashley with a horrible monkey flip, and then rights and elbows. Ashley goes for a body press from the 2nd rope but Michelle rolls through it and pins her with a handful of skirt? ?*

Batista & Lashley vs King Booker w/ Queen Sharmell & Finlay
Finlay jumps Batista as he and Lashley argue over who will start the match. Batista comes right back with shoulder thrusts in the corner. Suplex by Batista and Finlay rolls to the outside. Batista follows him and clothesline him and tosses him back in and a cover gets two. Lashley tagged in and gets the 3 point shoulder tackle. King Booker (KB) reluctantly tagged in and he and Lashley lock up. KB pummels Lashley in the corner. KB escapes the running powerslam but takes a spinebuster Finlay makes the save. The spill outside and KB tosses Lashley into the steps. Back inside, KB hits the standing side kick for two. Finlay in and a thunderous clothesline to Lashley for two. Finlay with a sleeper. Lashley elbows out but Finlay cuts off the tag with a clothes and a knee that gets two . KB back in : snapmare and a basement dropkick for two. KB holding a front facelock to prevent the tag. KB goes for a Suplex but can't get Lashley over- Lashley with a Suplex and crawls for the tag. Finlay attacks Batista, drawing the ref and they doubleteam Lashley. Finlay with hard elbows to the shoulder of Lashley. Lashley tossed outside where KB gives him a serious beat down while Finlay once again draws the ref. Back inside, Finlay with uppercuts but Lashley fights back with rights. Lashley goes for the tag but Finlay cuts him off with a drop toe hold into a half crossface. Lashley slips out and makes the tag but KB draws the ref who misses the tag and makes Batista get out of the ring. KB tags in and delivers explosive chops to Lashley, but misses the jumping sidekick and Lashley plants him with a spear! HOT tag to Batista! Rights to KB and Finlay and& Regal? And there's the DQ.***

After the match Batista goes crazy! Spinebuster to Regal.. on for KB.. and one for Lashley? Batista stalks Finlay. Lil' Bastard in with a low blow Batista some how catches his arm and Lil' Bastard gets out of his coat and flees the ring. Spinebuster to Finlay and Batista stands tall as Lashley glares at him.

Summary Not that bad of a show going into the No Mercy ppv, but I think creative took the no contest endings a little too far. Yang had another impressive outing and Sylvan looks to be improving but is still a little bland in the ring. Burke appears to be a great talent and he and Turkey could run rampid through the tag ranks. Hardy /Helms should be pretty good as well. Now if we could just get some of the matches to run a little be longer&
