Backstage TNA Notes From Monterrey, Mexico Show
TNA ran a big house show on Saturday in Monterrey, Mexico, here are the results:
Non-Title Match: Kurt Angle defeated NWA champion Abyss
America's Most Wanted defeated The Naturals
Ron Killings defeated Robert Roode
AJ Styles defeated Petey Williams and Eric Young in a Three-Way
LAX (Hernandez y Konnan) defeated The Voodoo Kin Mafia
Christian Cage defeated Rhino in a Monster's Ball Match
Jeremy Borash was there filming footage all night. That will likely air on iMPACT! in the coming weeks.
There had been a few weeks of TNA TV airing locally to build to the show.
There were a lot of comps in the area leading up to the show, mostly freebies given out by other local promoters.
The show drew in the area of 5,000-6,000 fans. There was very stiff competition though as several other Mexican promotions were running major shows.
There was an angle on the under card where Lucha star Cibernetico, sitting at ringside, ran off Jeff Jarrett and Konnan after they were ripping on AAA and the fans. Mike Johnson reports that it took them 10 minutes to clean the ring after that segment due to the sheer amounts of garbage that had been thrown into the ring, to the point that they had to improvise since they couldn't do the planned spots.
