Brock Lesnar's MMA Fighting Debut Set For This Spring

The following is an article from today's St. Paul Pioneer Press:

DON'T PRINT THAT

Some people believe Dereck Whittenburg, 44, who is rebuilding the Fordham University men's basketball program, would be a terrific choice for the Gophers men's basketball coaching job.
Whittenburg was a star guard for North Carolina State's 1983 NCAA champions and is credited with recruiting Stephon Marbury and Chauncey Billups when he was an assistant at Georgia Tech and Colorado, respectively.

It will be a shock if pitcher Sidney Ponson isn't released by the Twins.

OVERHEARD

Former Gophers heavyweight Brock Lesnar, 6 feet 3, 270 pounds and a former NCAA and pro wrestling champion, continues to train for his ultimate fighting debut this spring.

"I think I'll do good," said Lesnar, 24. "This just feels natural for me. I think I've adapted rather well."

It wouldn't be surprising if Jake Mauer, who coaches in the minor leagues for the Twins, someday manages his brother Joe in the major leagues.
